PSP handheld turns five years old
The once-popular Sony handheld PlayStation Portable has turned five years old today, with Sony announcing that the many revisions of the handheld have sold 60 million units worldwide.

"It's been a resounding success," adds Peter Dille, Sony's senior vice president of marketing.

17 million of the sales have been in the United States. In comparison, the PSP's biggest rival, the Nintendo DS/DSi has sold 125 million units globally, with 40 million in the U.S.

Dille says the latest PSP hardware revision, the Go (which removed the UMD drive) has "met our expectations," although sales have notably been low.

Quote:"It's been a resounding success," adds Peter Dille, Sony's senior vice president of marketing. Only because you can do just about, anything with it thanks to CFW. other wise it would have been a miserable flop.

I haven't touch my PSPs in ages... Why can't they enable trophies for the PSP games? That would be awesome, grinding on the go!

    Peace!

Hey, i don't mind sticking to the official FW if there are PSP trophies... Before people shout about the point of achievements/trophies, please don't. It's pretty much like asking why people collect comic books? Why people want to get rep'd? Why people care what other people wrote on-line...

You asked, I answered, that's how it works. Read this article @ Joystick about why Sony says no to PSP trophies.

I think you took my post the wrong way 713tex... there's no ill intention there. I was trying to shun people away from posting comments like "what do you need trophies/achievements for?" "Geez, can't you game w/o scores?" "It's not like you get anything from achievements..."

    Peace!

5 years and still no good games on it? I kind of stopped keeping up with what games came out for it once it was about a year old though.

I still got the first model that came out. I liked it because of the homebrew like many but the controls still feel a bit unatural.
