Hugo Chavez joins Twitter, gets 120,000 followers after two tweets
Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez, known globally for calling ex-President George Bush a "devil" among other slights has set up a Twitter account and has quickly amassed 120,000 followers.

The president even had 12,000 followers before his first Tweet, which came right before midnight on April 27th.

Venezuela is said to have 200,000 "active" Twitter users and it seems that a good portion have signed up to follow their elected leader.

Chavez's first Tweet says: "Epa que tal? Aparecí como lo dije: a la medianoche. Pa Brasil me voy. Y muy contento a trabajar por Venezuela. Venceremos!!" Roughly translated that says "What's up? Came as promised, at midnight. Headed to Brazil now. I'm very happy to work for Venezuela. We will win!!"

great get the word out via every avenue possible, lets rid the world of the controlling capitalists and give back the power to the people and the wealth spread around instead of going the huge multinationals.

he is anti-capitalist and kicked the big corporations out of Venezuela and now uses all the profits from oil to better his country. He kicked out all the white land owners & gave it back to the common folk, now imagine if ppl in the USA turned against the wealthy and elitist.

Chavez may not have made his country into a communist utopia, but he has done a lot of amazing things, and it is very unlikely that people would live as well as they do if someone else had been in his place. That said, he has done his share of dumb/evil things, and Venezuela is no paradise.

Would I vote for Chavez? If he was the only choice other than the Republidemocrats, then yes, I would. Seeing what he did with Venezuela makes me wish someone would do half as much for the USA.

BTW...he did not "kick out all the white land owners"; he simply took land from the richest people in the country; these people were free to stay in the country, and he left them all enough to live very comfortably (they went from being billionaires to being multi-millionaires). Also, they were not all white...he is not a racist, or at least not as much of one as davidike. He hates the super-rich who are willing to destroy the lives of others in order to hoard away more money that they can't even think of a use for...and people like that come in every combination of color, sex, religeon, and age.

I've been to Venezuela, walked the streets of Caracas. My friend lived there, married there and has two kids and now lives in the US. I swear I do not understand the mentality that socialism is the answer. The evils of money-empires should be solved outside the idea that totalitarian governments are the answer. Holy crap, people. You really do believe yourselves. You ACTUALLY believe the re-written history you've been fed. I don't believe what I am seeing. And by the time enough of you dig deep enough to get to the truth, it will be too late for America to turn around. And by then, when the effects of it are happening... when the biggest mistakes have been made, that history too will be re-written and everything you and I might try to pass along will be dust. It'll be gone. Go live there under the tyrant and talk to the people on the streets who are not looking for a hand out but want freedom again and can't have it. Go find people who have escaped Venezuela and Cuba like I have. I work with them. Go talk to them and stop believing the TV-screen lies that come out of people's mouths like Michael Moore who would not show you the real hospitals in his movie "Sicko". Go there yourselves and see just how many people are desperately scrounging for money to get to Panama as we speak! You do not know what you are asking for when you ask for the ideal of socialism. I cry at the fact that though my nation has sins, she above all is falling to pieces around a Godless ideal that will surely destroy her. Take responsibility for yourselves and stop allowing government, the referee in the game, take the ball from you. Don't you realize that once it's gone it's gone for good? Or are you really really thinking? My God are we really this spoiled?

NATIONALIZATION is very important for any Country of the world to take control over their own Natural Resources and kick out all Foreign Capitalists Corporations which been suck all the blood like a parasites or leeches for so many years out of all of this pour Countries.
This Happen to Mexico in 1936 and now Zimbabwe with his food distribution infrastructure, etc.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nationalization

Each Country of the world have the right to be Economic Independent. The problem is that some Governments are not ready to handle the big Package or they handle it wrong.

The Bad thing at the end is:
Only 10% (The Riches Families) end up to be the real winners of those Nationalized Co's. 'cos the rest of the people (90%) will still be pour as low Class, 'cos Middle Class do not exist on 3rd world Countries.

All Countries should be being rule and owned by their own people....not from Foreign Capitalist Corporations.

Thanks Mr-Movies... also I went to Zimbabwe just after the civil war in 79. I see what Mugabe has done and it is far worse than the nations around it because there is no freedom. It takes brainwashing to believe what the socialists tell you. I say again to anyone... go live there. Socialism is not something you "try out". It took too long to gain the freedoms we do have and now just hand it over? You better look before you leap and you better stop before you make the same mistakes that history has tried to teach us. I am forty, not an old fogey as some of you might think. Now go do your due diligence and start thinking like TRUE grass roots. I say it again. Go... dig... look for the real and not the imagined. Go find it, go ask and get your head out of what you are simply being TOLD is true so that you can find the truth itself...

    and hurry.

If you remove all the rich people who provide jobs, you make ALL the country poor. Look at Zimbabwe. Idealism is one thing but don't lose sight of REALITY.
