Injunction forces Pirate Bay down temporarily

Injunction forces Pirate Bay down temporarily
A preliminary injunction obtained by several major Hollywood studios against the Pirate Bay's provider has forced the infamous BitTorrent tracker offline temporarily while it attempts to carry out backup plans. CB3ROB Ltd. & Co. were prohibited from connecting the Pirate Bay website to the Internet by the Regional Court of Hamburg through the CyberBunker operator.

CB3ROB Managing Director Sven Olaf Kamphuis decided to stop routing the Pirate Bay traffic until his lawyers have carefully read and reviewed the injunction he received. The Pirate Bay will not wait for the lawyers review however, and are already attempting to get the website back online.

To get back online, the site only requires that another provider routes traffic for the Pirate Bay servers. At time of writing the site is still offline but is expected to be back online within a few hours.

The Pirate Bay has kept backup and "Plan B" measures since it was targeted in a raid back in 2006.

I do a lot of research and read a lot of E-books, What is the difference between me checking out a book at the library and downloading a PDF? Once I am done with it I rarely go back to it. The only difference is a 2 weeks wait.

Its so funny that people still think they can tame the internet. It's the modern wild west! Even if they could shut down pirate bay it'll only be a matter of time until a bigger & better website appears.

I remember when our auto manufacturers, decades ago, came up with an agreement involving Japanese imports. Japan agreed to "not import so many cars." The result, American cars manufacturers got lazy because they didn't have to improve in the timescale that Japan was presenting to the world. American manufactures got caught with their pants down and their thumbs up their noses, and Japan, which only had a verbal agreement, took over and took a big chunk out the Big 3.

Hollywood and movies, here we are. How can Hollywood expect to improve the movie going experience if we are forced by law to have to either go to the theater, or buy the DVD? Hollywood needs to get their heads out and realize they need to evolve, or lose out.

Bottom line, win us back to the theater.

Even if the creators didn't put it back up, there are several dozen people with backups of that web site waiting to take its place. Hollywood. You will not win this. All you have done is given the pirate bay publicity that will be used by whoever takes its place. Every single time they have ever shut down a program or web page, without exception, a more extensive one has taken its place within the month.

America, you are so funny. Everything you do is based on monetary value. This was relevant when artists wanted a cut for themselves. Sure, Arista, Warner Brothers, Universal and so many other companies were getting the lions share of profits, they put out the most expense! They would give 100 artists recording time, studio time, editing time, etc. and out of 100 MAYBE 1 or 2 would make it big because they had the talent. Think of the biggest names-Steven Speilberg, Michael Jackson, Elvis, The Beatles,The Coen Brothers, Quentin Tarantino, Akira Kurosawa...and many, many others. Yes, they got rich and their respective representative studios became even richer. But for these artistic geniuses, the studios would have to shell out 75% to FIND them and weed through the 99 out of 100 artists that weren't so great, or that the public didn't respond to.

Now that every kind of art that can be digitally transmitted (e.g. movies, music) is value-less, erevything that is cranked out of the recording or movie industry is sub-par because everyone with talent knows there is no money in it for them. And guess what America, YOU are the reason. If you pay a person to dance for you, they may or may not dance. But if you don't pay them at all, what are the chances they are going to perform? What about if you paid them even MORE? They would probably dance better than you'd ever imagine, right?
So if you get something for free off of the internet, and all of your friends get it for free, and everyone on Earth gets it for free, what do you think the recording industry and the movie industry is going to invest their money in?
Only things that are profitable right? Which means that only the dumbest or poorest people that do not know how to get things for free are going to have to shell out money for. Which means you are going to be subjected to movies, music, and anything that can be digitally copied (stolen) that only the dumbest or poorest section of the population are willing to pay for.
Take my analogy from before. Say you are X, and you and person Y pay person Z to dance, they will dance. Now say you dont pay, but person Y is still paying. Person Z will still dance, but probably not as enthusiastic or enlightening.
Now say person Y only pays 1/2 of what they were paying, or 1/3, or 1/8....
How good do you think the dance would be then? If you went to your job and they didn't pay you, how productive would you be? How long would you stay at that job? What if no jobs paid you? What if the only job you could get was for poverty level, how productive would you be?

America, you want something for nothing, and every time you think you are getting something for free, you are only cutting down the artist, and then you complain about how movies and music aren't as good as they once were.

20 years ago, if your child was talented at one of these mediums, you may have encouraged them to go into the art and been secure that if they were good enough, they could make a living.

Now, with everything being "free", even if they were the best ever at the art, there would be no money in it....ever. How likely would you be to encourage them to go into that particular field?

America used to be the place where everything was made. Then Japan outshined you in technology and automobiles (then Korea outshined them). Movies and music were the one thing you did right. And now you have spoiled that.

You have dug your own grave America, and you have no one to blame but yourself.
