Apple sells 2 millionth iPad
Apple has announced the sale of 2 million iPad tablets as of today, a little under a month since the company announced the sale of the 1 millionth unit.

The tablet launched in early April in the United States and the company began selling the device in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK this past weekend, where excitement reached a fervor.

Says Apple CEO Steve Jobs via press release: "Customers around the world are experiencing the magic of iPad, and seem to be loving it as much as we do. We appreciate their patience, and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone."

The iPad saw 450,000 sales on launch day, and was touted as Apple's most successful product launch ever.

Jobs notes that there are already 5000 iPad-only apps in the App Store, with 200,000 created for the iPhone/iPod Touch additionally available.

I won't be buying an Ipad either. But just for my amusement, I hope to read the comments from those who have, as they try and defend the product. Only Apple product I ever have or ever will buy, and do not regret buying is my 80 gb Ipod classic. I wish the sound quality was more consistent for all my music, but aside from that, the interface is simple and as it should be and there for have no use for any competing product of it's kind.

Glad you like your Zune though. The few moments I was able to test out one of my friend's Zunes, it appeared to be just as easy as an Ipod so I'd probably recomend either one for anybody seeking that type of portable music/video player.

Getting back on topic though. Who needs a tablet PC anyway? Just buy a freakin full fledged laptop already. You'll get tons more value for the money, And since so many people already own an Iphone, that makes it even more mind bogling to me why one would buy this.

I own an iPhone and will probably replace it soon. I know what uses the phone has and I know its limitations. But what is an iPad for? I think its for morons! Get a notebook you morons.

Get a notebook you morons. It isn't for people who need a computer; it does not have the capabilities; it is just an overgrown iPod, not even an overgrown iPhone. I honestly don't know what people are using these for. I guess it would be somewhat useful as a book reader...but the kindle does that for much less, and with free 3G. Too big to use as a MP3 player (not that it has enough room for a good MP3 collection).

Oh, and even though it has a big screen, all video apps are restricted to speeds that would look bad on an iPhone screen. Of course, there isn't enough room to store MP3s, let alone videos...so it is useless as a video device.

-Can't do video...not good video anyway
-Can do audio, but not designed for it, and devices that are much cheaper do it better.
-Can read books (kindle does it better for less money)
-Can browse web (well, parts of it...no flash or silverlight support)
-Can't make cell calls, VoIP calling is still not an adequate replacement for cell.

I would like to hear from a number of ipad owners as to what they really use it for. I'm just curious. I read where one guy uses it mainley for reading. So you'd pay 500.00 for a reader? Get the Kindle. It's a much better deal.

To me portability is the most important thing. My Ipod fits in my pocket and that's how i like it. Why would i want to lug around that big thing?

My brother almost bought one for his neice but i talked him out of it. Oh Yeah !!@!@!!

Exacty. iPad is just a bloated iPod 3 times the price.

A netbook with almost the same size has a lot more use and cheaper too. I can call with my netbook using Onesuite VoIP. Chat comfortably with my friends over Yahoo. Do video conferencing on MSN, etc.
