Less than 10 percent of consumers have interest in Natal, Move
According to a new study by OTX GamePlan, videogame consumers have little interest in Microsft and Sony's upcoming motion control systems, with under 10 percent willing to purchase Project Natal or PlayStation Move.

2000 console owners were polled over the last month and 8 percent said they intended to buy Natal while only 6 percent said they were willing to buy the PlayStation Move.

Move and Natal are likely to take center stage at the upcoming E3 event next week, with Microsoft finally giving more official details on their system. Natal is still just a codename given to the system.

The horrible consumer response is likely due to this lack of information on the systems, but that should change after the upcoming week. So far, only prototype games have been shown off that use the motion control systems, with no significant third-party titles attached.

GamePlan's study seems to agree with that notion, as only 15 percent of the entire console market is even aware that the systems are in existence.

Let's compare with numbers pulled from my ass.

    Wii with motion control: $200
    XBox 360 Pro + Natal: > $299 (That's greater than $299)
    PS3 + Move: > $349

Wii has also had motion control for quite some time. The target audience is the casual gamer and you know what system they have already? The Wii. Good luck marketing what you both made fun of. Not that anyone remembers though.

As a side note, They will be changing the name of Natal to something else. Most likely during E3.

It's going to depend on the games that use the technology. If they garner enough attention, users will more consider getting the add-ons to play them. On the other hand, games that REQUIRE the add-ons might not fare too well until if and when enough users care...but those that allow EITHER the add-on or regular controller might not generate an interest in the add-on. Catch-22 there.

Personally, I like the idea of accurate bow & arrow and sword & shield gameplay (in something other than the cartoony 'toy' games on Wii).

I guess there are a few wii owners that want better graphics; in spite of Nintendo's claims that they don't want HD. Then there are those of us who would not buy a wii if it was the best system, just because the controls suck. Maybe Sony & M$ can steal the last two people who are still paying for wii games, and nintendo can finally bury that POS and start on something good.

I think if Sony makes a motion controller for the PS2 it will be neck-to-neck with Wii! Not that it's going to happen...just saying.

Interest for the 2 new motion controllers will peak depending on what we'll get for that money. As a PS3 owner, it seems obvious that i'd be inclinded towards Move, but i have a 360 as well. I'm skeptical about Natal. Games that involve my whole body cant be too fast, so they're limited to my physical speed. This means most Natal games would be too slow and the challenge factor may wear off quickly, making it boring, not to mention the price for Natal and its Gears-of-War-priced games that wont be Gears of War.
