Verizon offering FiOS trials, month-by-month service

Verizon offering FiOS trials, month-by-month service
Verizon Communications is to let customers trial its FiOS Internet and television service for a month, and will not charge any fees if a customer chooses to switch the service off after. The offer also includes the option of paying month-by-month, eliminating a long-term contract, with the assurance that the price would not go up for a year.

The offer might be risky to Verizon, which reportedly spends around $1,350 to install FiOS at a new customer's home. if most customers chose to keep the service however, it could put pressure on cable and satellite rivals to adjust their own terms. Termination fees usually still apply for U.S. wireless providers even if try-out periods are offered to customers.

Larry Hettick
, an analyst for Current Analysis, predicts that Verizon will keep a substantially large number of customers who sign up under the new rules. "There's so much tit-for-tat in the cable TV business, anything that changes for one provider may bring pressure on the others," Hettick said.

Verizon's FiOS coverage region has a potential 12 million customers for television services, and 12.6 million for Internet services. The company has been offering FiOS Internet services since 2004, and television services since 2005. In areas where it operates, it has roughly 25 percent market share for TV and 29 percent for Internet.

They have been offering Fios without contract for a while...it all depends on the community you live in...some require contracts, some don't...and some areas are passed over because the cable company bribes them to stay away...even though they tore up my lawn to install the wiring going to another neighborhood, they refuse to let me have fios, no matter what plan or contract I want (I have a 760 credit score btw...so it isn't like they are avoiding me; only my house). If they had told me this, I never would have let them touch my lawn...I ASSUMED THAT THEY WERE TEARING UP MY LAWN SO I COULD HAVE THE SERVICE!!!

Hell, I would get Fios is a micro second if they would come here... and I live in a big city!

Unfortunately for them, all Blu-ray protections have been broken and BD rips can be found around the Internet, usually before the retail even hits shelves.

The property is not your's it belongs to the utility company. They just let you use it without charging you for the use.

I wish Verizon FOIS was availabale in Houston Texas. Basically I'd love to have that 30 to 50 MB's per second download speed with no 250GB cap like Comcast puts on it's subscribers. But sadly Fios is not availavle to me.....

Hello Mr. Delahunty. The subject matter of your article is interesting. You ought to avoid "redefining" words if your objective is to become a respectable writer. The word "trial" is a noun, not a verb! Keep writing!
