YouTube strikes content deal with WWE

Google has announced that the most popular video sharing site on the planet, YouTube, will now offer full-length, current episodes of WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) programming.

The new deal will include current episodes of Friday Night Smackdown, WWE NXT, WWE Superstars, and ECW.



Additionally, there will be more footage from Monday Night Raw, classic matches, and interview videos with "WWE Superstars and Divas like John Cena, Chris Jericho and Alicia Fox."

YouTube's new deal should help it compete with "catch-up" programming services like Hulu, since the WWE will be making brand new episodes available within 24 hours of its broadcast day.

  This does not include the pay per views yet this should include those aswell mayb delayed to be put on youtube for a month laterz

  ECW was canceled several months ago, and replaced with NXT.

  could work. Putting the PPVs on youtube, unless they designed a pay service is not smart from a business perspective. These PPVs are released on DVD in about 2-3 months from the air date giving the company to make more money off the show and enabling those who might not have been able to spend $40-$50 on the ppv, to but the DVD for $20 or so.

  Um...I thought most of these programs were live, and on network tv? Isn't this the case?
  
  If you want to see it live, then YouTube isn't for you anyway...this is more for people who want to watch last night's match while they are at work, riding the bus, or somewhere where TV just isn't available. This service won't even affect DVR tune-ins...as the broadcast version is still going to be much better quality than the YouTube version.
