New Verizon ad takes aim at iPhone antenna issues

New Verizon ad takes aim at iPhone antenna issues
This week, Verizon has started a new ad campaign picking at the iPhone 4's antenna issues.

The iPhone 4 has been in the news, negatively, over the past week as more and more users complained about losing their calls and data plan when gripping the phone with their left hand.

Apple first told users to hold the phone in their right hand, or to buy a case. The company then flipped their story, instead arguing that an algorithm was misrepresenting the amount of service the phone was receiving. Firmware update 4.0.1 will update that algo.

Verizon, seeing an opportunity, has bought a full page ad in the New York Times for the upcoming Motorola Droid X, praising the Android device while also taking a shot at the iPhone.

On the bottom of the ad is the following statement: "And most importantly, it comes with a double antenna design. The kind that allows you to hold the phone any way you like and use it just about anywhere to make crystal clear calls."

IPhone honestly has the best OS but its not the best phone. Droid is better than the iPhone 3GS and I'm sure the Droid X is going to be just as good if not better than the iPhone 4. One thing for sure, I did not have to jailbreak my Droid. IPhone has too many restrictions.

Unfortunately, they won't. To put it simply: "Apple is so uptight that if you stuck a lump of coal up their ass, in two weeks it will become a diamond." I give kudos to Motorola for putting great phones, with multiple antennas that actually work w/o any excuses. Plausible deniability is NOT going to get Apple anywhere.

I concur...Froyo is great! Apple has been putting out excuses since the IPHONE'S existence. No excuses from Motorola or HTC yet...prior Iphone owner...current Motorola Droid owner...debating should I get the Droid X or Droid 2...I love the power without restrictions

That is a nice thing about android; they don't make excuses...they might say something like, "We are working on it" or even "We have too much on our plate right now, and have no time to work on that yet"...not like Apple where all the complaints are answered with something like "Oh, we meant to make the screen all yellow" or "You don't need flash, HTML5 will be more popular in a decade anyway". HTC sometimes makes excuses for the hardware, but no one makes excuses for the software; it is either working, or it needs to be improved.

Apple has become so full of themselves that as a company that used to take shots at "corporate behavior", they instead of become what they once claimed to hate. Profits now move their company, rather than innovative technology and feeding the frenzy of the masses that would want their technology. Droid is steadily taking a heavy bite of the iPhone's market share, to the point that Apple should be getting extremely nervous. Why buy an iPhone with all the restrictions both Apple and AT&T keep putting on the use of it, when Verizon and Motorola seem to really have their act together. Now the only downside really with the Droid is that Verizon's coverage ads are false, AT&T does have a much wider range of service availability. But overall if you live in or around a good-sized city you shouldn't have any problems using the Droid at all, and likely will have far better bandwidth availability as well.
