Video Daily: Whoopi Goldberg 'murders' her iPhone 4

If you have been following AfterDawn over the past two weeks, you have undoubtedly read about "antennagate," Apple's ongoing iPhone 4 situation.

The iPhone 4, due to flawed hardware engineering, drops phone calls when held in the left hand, as your hand covers the antenna.



Yesterday, CEO Steve Jobs announced the company would be providing free cases to iPhone 4 buyers, as the bumpers would eliminate the antenna issues.

Jobs says the number of dropped calls per dials is tiny, but so far the problem has been a PR disaster for Apple.

Whoopi Goldberg, of the popular TV show "The View," went on a rant yesterday about the iPhone and its dropped calls, saying it made her so angry that she threw the phone out of her car, "murdering" it.

  Lol, they don't know how to use a smart phone. "I got my radar" Psh hahahaha. They obviously have issues because they are too old to understand the technology and how to use it. Der der der.

  LOL!! this is great my cousin wanted to get one and i cant be bothered getting one due to the fact the iPhone is not everything i wished for in a phone. The main aspect i would like in the new phones is a 64gig version and not to be soo locked down as the older phones are in regards to retrieving the information off them instead of having to use a third party recovery program

I've heard enough about the iPhone4 to know its a piece of trash with a trashy network. I did some traveling last week driving about 3 hours while my wife used her Droid on 3G coverage the entire time. You can not travel from city to city on att network without loosing 3g coverage making the iPhone an even more incapable le phone.

  Unfortunately for them, all Blu-ray protections have been broken and BD rips can be found around the Internet, usually before the retail even hits shelves.

  But are they falling? Apple's corporate belief seems to be, "There is no such thing as bad publicity"...and it has been working for the iPhone for more than 3 years now.
  
  I honestly don't know why a phone with so many problems, both hardware and software, gets so much attention over something so small. At least there is a fix for this problem (or at least a band-aid). There still isn't a fix for the "whites appear yellow" screen problem...and it has been there since the 3GS!

  Personally I think I heard enough of iAnything for a while now; let the masses have their latest gizmo's, and lets focus media attention on something that actually matters.
  
  In the meantime maybe Jobs can offer BP a band-aid for its oil cap, which may be cracked now..

  It isn't about a gizmo, nor is it about a problem with a gizmo. It is about a company that is larger than microsoft...a company that lies to their customers, to the general public, even to their stockholders...and does it in a way that draws more and more attention to the problem. Jobs had a chance to nip this quick...but he let it spin out of control for a very long time, and when he finally did something, it was not the promised fix, but a band-aid, and one that ruins the visual style of the phone. Jobs himself does not use the bumper, because he likes the design of the phone as is, and he was already in the practice of holding a phone like a jackass.
  
  Apple lies all the time, but usually no one hears much about it. Steve made this big by failing to act on the problem, instead using delay tactics like a coming firmware update, and let's not forget his video on "The correct way to hold a cell phone"...that was to the media what a hundred pounds of red meat are to a starving grizzly bear.
  
  I think steve needs to take a long vacation...he is clearly overworked...and he has been for a very long time.

  Nice, someone should've picked up the phone, copied the addressbook to internet, ordered bunch of stuff charged to the phone bill and maybe make some bomb threats.
  That should've thought her some respect for gadgets.

What pisses me off most about Jobs is that he only acts when pressured by the public and the media. He never offers anything but lame excuses for the problems. At first it was our fault for holding the phone wrong.
  
  The only reason he is offering the free cases is because of the PR pressure this is giving him and his company.
