Apple delays white iPhone 4 for second time

Apple, in the headlines recently for more negative reasons than not, has seen another setback in its upcoming launch of a white iPhone 4 model, which was initially set for a release day launch but was pushed back to "later in the summer."

Summer is here and there was no word about the white model, until this week.



Says Apple: "White models of Apple's new iPhone® 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected, and as a result they will not be available until later this year. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected."

According to the Chinese newspaper 21st Century Business Herald, the delay comes from manufacturing problems in a Chinese factory with the company Lens Technology, which transforms raw glass into iPhone 4 glass panels.

Apple has never confirmed what is causing the delays on the white models.

LOL, that is very true, however,"the Chinese delay" I think is only a smoke screen...crApple is re-designing an entire antenna which was true to their name-CRAP,and that takes time! Maybe they get it right the second time around, with the white version.

Maybe they get it right the second time around, with the white version. Good one KillerBug. ROFL! No, you're definitely right cyprusrom, the delay definitely stems from the antenna redesign. Apple fans can undoubtedly expect the 'white version' to be free of such problems. It has nothing to do with the damn screen. Apple might as well admit it. Someone needs to go back to PR school. Do YOU like it when people try to cover up their mistakes even when you KNOW exactly what they did wrong? I don't think so. It's no different when a company does it, or your best friend (which Apple seems to be for some folks).

  Why would you think that Apple is fixing the problem with the antenna? They knew about the problem even before the first prototype was made...and they never did anything about it. Why would they do anything about it now? I suspect the delay is due to short supply of white bumpers.

  +1 for the Antenna redesign.At least,they are making an effort to fix the problem(actually the couldn't let it like that in another phone :P)

  @KillerBug They knew it but they probably thought the user's wouldn't notice???In any case,it's amazing that companies make the effort of considering users totally dump every now and then!
