Studios sue Triton Media in effort to stop ads on piracy sites
Warner and Disney have sued the advertising company Triton Media alleging that the company provided advertising consulting and referrals to nine "one-stop-shop" piracy sites.

The studios say Triton, of Scottsdale, Arizona, committed contributory infringement due to their assistance in the advertising.

Studios identified by the lawsuit are: www.free-tv-video-online.info, supernovatube.com, donogo.com, watch-movies.net, watch-movies-online.tv, watch-movies-links.net, havenvideo.com and piratecity.org.

Each of the sites offers access to unauthorized movies, games music and software.

The suit alleges that Triton enables the web sites to operate and has working knowledge that they are participating in illegal activities.

Disney and Warner are seeking an injunction that would ban Triton from working with similar sites, as well as monetary damages.

Entertainment industry's foolproof ten-step plan to stop copyright infringement:

    1. Try to sue the people who infringed on copyright ... CHECK - didn't work

This is the right direction to go in illicit profit is mroe of a crime than downloading or uploading for no money.

Until lobbying is a hanging offense I choose anarchy!
Ah modern gaming its like modern film only the watering down of fiction and characters is replaced with shallow and watered down mechanics, gimmicks and shiny-er "people".

Zippy, I would call it A direction but not necessarily the right one. At this point they are just blindingly aiming at anything that has to do with piracy, even if it doesn't. I with nonoitall
here, it's getting pretty sad, and it prolly won't take long for them to try something similar to that joke. Funny btw, but yet not too far fetched.

As hikaricor pointed out, I've never heard of those sites before at all. For that matter until this article I'd never heard of Triton Media either. But what is funny is the thought that the studios and the MPAA are so desperate now that they will continue to funnel millions of dollars into lawsuits against small outfits that at most might be able to pay out nickles and dimes in settlements.

Is it just me, or does it seem more and more like all this "anti-piracy" BS is coming from Warner and Disney directly, and less so from other major studios? Maybe if those two studios stopped HUGELY over-charging for their movies in the theaters and on DVD, they might realize that the real profit is to be found in drawing customers to them at sensible prices. But no, lets charge 10x more per unit for the price, and then cry in the board of director's meetings when the extra billion dollars they hoped to bank in Switzerland doesn't come to reality. Yes, woe is the millionaires who can't swindle another million a day from the consumers.

oh dear. i am a proud member of the ninja community, once a top mainsite as well, we are now fighting the good fight and defend our cause. i read this article on a lot of websites...
and the content makes me angry again...and especially Disney looses every credibility for me, because, and now, please get this right and understand its ironic: Disney at one point in time had adds on our mainsite!!!
what the .... is there really anybody out there who still believes in this lie of the big companies loosing money? i laugh about that, and it makes me angry. this is just another wrong pleaded cause by the so called new team of big companies to even get more money.

by the way, our forum is still alive and its growing! Check it out http://www.ninjavideoforum.net and join the movement!

To no one’s surprise, these studios are freaking hypocrites. Disney, and I imagine WB as well, advertises on pirate sites too. I know this for a fact. All this case is about is felxing a little muscle in a rather pathetic effort to curb piracy. Even for these conglomerates it’s an uphill battle. The ONLY way in which internet piracy can be eliminated is if they manage to destroy or take control over every single hard drive on the face of this planet, which not even the US government can do. No one is capable of that…

Rather than “fight” piracy and involve the US government – i.e. Homeland security (?) – not to mention the judicial system, the studios should consider innovation as a solution. How about adapting to the needs of their customers? How about hiring the uploaders and admins of pirate sites, rather than criminalizing them? They obviously know what they’re doing.

Up loaders, downloaders, and pirates around the globe are not thieves. They do not go into the golden vaults of HBO, Disney, or WB and steal anything. All they do is access what already exists. If the studios are so concerned with DVD screeners being leaked on the web, maybe they should treat their employees better so they’ll stop leaking them…

Whether you agree with me or not, I’d like to continue the conversation – it’s an important one. Our freedoms and privacy are at risk more and more each and every day. Come over to www.ninjavideoforum.net so we can chat.
