Nintendo 3DS release dates revealed
Following months of speculation, Nintendo has finally revealed the release dates for its upcoming Nintendo 3DS handheld.

President Satoru Iwata says the 3DS will hit Japanese stores on February 26th, 2011, and then the US/European markets one month later.

In Japan the handheld will retail for ¥25,000 (about $300 USD) but the prices for the European and American models were not revealed.

At launch, the system will be available in "Aqua Blue" and "Cosmo Black" colorways.

The company also revealed the first 10 launch games for the system which are: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Nintendogs + Cats, Pilotwings Resort, Pro Baseball Spirits, Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle, Ridge Racer 3D, Samurai Warriors Chronicle, Steel Diver, Super Monkey Ball, and Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition.

Nintendo will be bundling the console with a 2GB SD card used for downloadable content and will have a "Virtual Console" service for Game Boy and Game Boy Advance titles.

Launch titles sound pretty crappy too... >.< With the exception of Zelda and Layton ofcourse. ^o^ Hope I've got a job by March so I can get me one of these! ^o^

I'll get it once there's a larger game selection and a price drop.

Seriously what are you "fans" thinking?
Nintendo (a company that use to get my business...loyal business) is once again rehashing these games from 2 generations ago. Why would I want to play Zelda OoT again, for the third time on the third system? Ridge Racer anyone? Been there done that. Nintendogs (and cats) again? What ever happened to Pilot Wings on the Wii?

It is consumers like you that warrant this crap. Everyone gets excited about the 4th revamp of a DS machine. I understand its 3D and all that but for christs sake, can they come up with new games? Something to get excited about other then 3D versions of game that have been played for the last 14 years? Demand more as a consumer. Make it a point NOT to buy this system. With every ooh and ahh they see over the excitement of rehashed games, they feel they can keep repeating this process. Show them you want something BOLD something NEW, not used and redressed.

What's the res like on this thing?

    Can you Skype with this?

And then they'll bring out a red version and a white version and then a pink version....

Shame it hasn't got two sticks.

I sympathise with Philosoweed but I guess they are going with what games they know will sell. Have to wait for a while for to price to drop and newer bolder games.

Its a lot easier being righteous than right.

    @Jemborg,

Kudos to you, your doing exactly what needs to happen. Your waiting for 1, the price to drop to a reasonable level, and 2, your also waiting for the "newer bolder games" to come out. What this shows Nintendo is that consumers aren't going to jump on the band wagon, they aren't going to get excited about the same old games, and you as a consumer know what the price point is that fits your budget.

If they see the excitement over old games, they won't try so hard on the new ones.

If they see people willing to shell out a few hundred dollars (on a product that will no doubt fall to the 199 or 149 price point within the first year of release), they won't understand its just to damn expensive.

Make your voices heard and your dollars count people. Remember they Create and sell things to make us happy, if we aren't happy, send them back to the drawing board.

And to answer the Skype question, Iwata had mentioned this is not a device to compete against the IPhone. But if it were to be available, I would have to guess it would come out with the 3DS2, as it would be yet another reason to hash out another upgrade to rip off the consumers.

@ Philosoweed ~ If it is wi-fi connectible ("N" hopefully), with camera and mic... then iPhone could go stuff themselves as far as Ninty's concerned... I'm sure there's no love lost there.

Kids love chatting to one another, so they would be stupid imho not to include a app for it... if they were serious about making their gadget popular.

Skype may not go for it if they felt they could make no money from it but an app that would do the same thing between 3DSs would be the go. They ought to learn something from the homebrew that was made for the cracked versions. This one should play mp3s right?

Its a lot easier being righteous than right.

I bet Nintendo going to come out with 3DS Lite then 3DS XL

and how come there's no cam on this picture?

    great, 3DSi and 3DSi XL?

I wish that someone should make a built in hard drive for handheld video games rather than using the sd cards... they don't hold much files on there...
