320GB standalone PlayStation 3 coming soon

320GB standalone PlayStation 3 coming soon
Sony has announced today that they will be releasing a standalone 320GB PlayStation 3 console soon, pricing the console at $350.

Additionally, the company is still selling the 320GB system bundled with PlayStation Move, the PS Eye and "Sports Champion" for $400.

Making the system intriguing is the fact that Sony sells their low-end 160GB model for $300, so upgrading may even be cheaper than buying a 160GB model and adding your own HDD (unless you already have one laying around).

For September, Sony saw 312,000 PlayStation 3 sales in the U.S., a steep 37 percent drop year-over-year, although in August 2009 the company dropped the price of the PS3, leading to extremely strong sales for the period.

Sony has also reported that they have shipped 1 million Move motion controllers in the Americas for the PlayStation 3 in just 30 days since launch. Sony Europe reported 1.5 million sales for the EU during the same time.

Hard to believe they still charge so much for PS3s...No way I'd pay $350 for one of these...

    Just my $0.02,

Sony Stores usually have refurbished PS3s for $200, that's pretty good I guess..

Unless it comes with restored ps1/2 support, unmolested usb hardware, and the OtherOS re-enabled then why would anyone want it?
At this point you know they're just going to make it even worse than it already is just from what's happened in the last couple years.

This is the drive they use in the 320GB...it is $50 with free shipping:

Buying the 160GB and upgrading is like buying the 320GB model and getting a free spare 160GB hard drive. Of course, it would be foolish to buy a 320GB drive when you can get the drive that will be in the 500GB model PS3 for $55.

To play games, watch Blu-Ray films and be able to play the triple A exclusive PS3 games as well.

I was never aware that the PS3's main feature was to play PS2 games and to have OtherOS. Also, any PS3 model is capable of playing over 95% of PS1 games.

It not only plays blu-ray discs, but also the new 3-D blu ray discs. It definitely has lots of features for its price. I'm thinking on buying another.

I might get the PlayStation 3 320GB PlayStation Move Mega Party Pack ... am I crazy or what ...$509.96

I get 20 percent discounts from Gamestop since my n law works at their warehouse.

it comes with 2 move navigation,2 move controllers,PlayStation®Eye camera and Sports Champions™ Blu-ray game

or should I get PlayStation 3 320GB PlayStation Move Party Pack? includes same as the mega party bundle but it only comes with 1 navigation but still comes with 2 move controllers and other items.

It is about the right price if you are actually going to use the move...IF.
