LimeWire is back, this time as 'LimeWire Pirate Edition'
Just two weeks after LimeWire was permanently shut down by a federal ruling, a "secret dev team" has brought the P2P client back, dubbed the LimeWire Pirate Edition (LPE).

Says the team (via PCW): "On October 26 the remaining LimeWire developers were forced to shut down the company's servers and modify remote settings in the filesharing client to try to harm the Gnutella network. They were then laid off.

"Shortly after, a horde of piratical monkeys climbed aboard the abandoned ship, mended its sails, polished its cannons, and released it free to the community."

LPE is based off the LimeWire 5.6 beta, and is now available via warez and torrents sites.

The new updated client has the Ask.com toolbar removed, all need for the LimeWire LLC servers removed, all remote settings disabled, and all LimeWire Pro features activated, for free. There is also no adware or spyware.

Not that i use any torrents or pirate software/song myself, just seems this is long enough for the parties concerned to put in the necessary hacks to harvest those who are pirating, reminds me of a sting operation where a live. The police sent invitations to convicts that skipped out reporting to their parole officers or bail, or missed court dates. After the party was going good and everyone showed up, they were all taken back to prison.

I can't help but think this is just another string.

I doubt its a sting, It was probably limewires former employees who wanted to see it continue. I think its great the stripped all the ads and ditched the spyware, I might tell some computer noobs I know to download this now

    "via warez and torrents sites"

If anyone, ANYONE, would actually torrent Limewire. I'd just rage. Honestly lol.

I love that all the attention is on P2P and Torrent! Keep it up!

Unfortunately for them, all Blu-ray protections have been broken and BD rips can be found around the Internet, usually before the retail even hits shelves.

Bring on the viruses and malware infections. I swear every computer I have seen with Limewire on it has had some sort of infection or something.

    AMD Phenom II 965 @ 3.6Ghz, 8GB DDR3, ATI Radeon 5770HD, 300GB 10,000RPM Raptor, 2TB Additional HDD, Windows 7 Ultimate.

Serious...if you can't tell the difference then you deserve to have viruses and malware.

No it is totally the user's fault. They are taking a risk using P2P and should be more careful. I was just saying that overall there seems to be many virus infected files on the limewire network based off just about every computer I have seen with Limewire on it had an infection usually in the limewire download folder(s). No need to get bent out of shape.

the government might as well give up. the only way to stop the piracy is to shut the internet off and i don't see that happening
