Intel slashes prices on SSDs
Intel has slashed the prices on their range of SSDs today, as well as adding a new, larger 120GB version to the line.

The line of X25-M maninstream drives will each see a solid discount as the holiday season approaches.

Starting with the 160GB model, the MSRP will drop to $415, the 80GB model will drop to $200 and the small 40GB will drop to $100.

The new 120GB model will sell for $250. The new version will offer the best per/GB value of the entire line.

For now the new prices seem effective only in the U.S., but expect it to be extended to the U.K., as well.

Those prices still need to come down a lot in these lean times.

Its not often you see one of the consistently best rated bits of hardware scaled down in price to the level of lesser rated competitors. That 120GB for $250 seems a steal compared to pricing other SSD's!

You'll be crying for more when you start installing applications that DEMAND a C: installation location and even more so when you simply install to that drive by convenience and instinct.

Practicality dictates that a mimimum of 128GB is what most will need if avid computer users.

you just have to know how to point to installations in the registry. there are a very few programs that demand they be installed on the Windows Root, usually because there's a windows file or something they need on root which can be copied to any drive.

some program's don't even need to be registered at all.

I've installed Just Cause 2 to a dvd, just plop it in and play.

The 40 gig prices at $100 and the 80 gig prices at $200 have been like this for six months. I'm not sure what this article is even about.
