CES 2011: MediaTek shows first 120Hz SoC solutions for 3D TV
MediaTek Inc. announced today that it will showcase the world's first 120Hz SoC solutions for 3D TV at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

According to the latest DisplaySearch forecast, the estimated shipments of 3D TV in 2010 is 3.4 million, and the 3D TV market penetration rate is expected to grow from 5 percent of total flat panel TVs in 2010 to 37 percent in 2014. Furthermore, connected TV is to reach new height with over 40 million units in 2010 to 118 million in 2014.



Furthermore, connected TV is to reach new height with over 40 million units in 2010 to 118 million in 2014. MediaTek will demonstrate a complete 3D TV solution at CES feating 120Hz and 2240Hz pattern retarder/ shutter glasses 3D TV technologies.

The solutions can support not only multiview video coding (MVC), but also various 3D media formats, including 3D VOD (Video on Demand), VC-1, 3D Blu-ray and broadcasting.

Aside from 3D TV solutions, MediaTek will also demonstrate its latest Smart TV solutions. The Smart TV solutions support video calls, video on demand, and wireless connection. Through wireless standards such as Bluetooth and wireless PAN, the consumers can enjoy faster and higher-quality video entertainment.
