Sony NGP to sell for $300?

Sony NGP to sell for $300?
Although Sony has not announced the price yet for their upcoming NGP handheld, a leak from GameStop seems to show the device coming in at $300.

Given the impressive specs of the console, the price doesnt seem too high, especially considering the failed PSPGo launched at $250.

At $300, the NGP will also only be $50 more than upcoming Nintendo 3DS, its direct rival.

The "release date" in the leaked photo is likely wrong, as Sony has said it expects to launch before the holidays this year.

For controls, the handheld adds dual micro-analog sticks, giving gamers a feature they begged for on the original PSP.

The device has a massive 5-inch multi-touch OLED screen with 960×544 resolution, a multi-touch panel on the back and will run on a quad-core ARM cortex processor.

Sony has added tilt-sensitive SIXAXIS controls, standard and front-side cameras, GPS, an electric compass, Wi-Fi and 3G support, and access to Android gaming.

Remember all the extra stuff the psp, ps2, and ps3 had before they came out?

What do you think will be cut to meet the small $300.00 price tag?

Tilt-sensitive SIXAXIS controls, standard and front-side cameras, GPS, an electric compass, Wi-Fi and 3G support, and access to Android gaming.

Impressive. The PSP was impressive too when compared to the original DS. NO ONE predicted the DS would double the sales of the PSP. We'll see how this generation turns out, given it hasn't even begun yet!

Yeah imho the gps, electric compass, 3g, sixaxis and the multi touch panel seems like a bit too much.

This isn't even the official final price point, the store already verified it was set to this to simply take in pre-orders. The computer wouldn't allow pre-orders if there wasn't a number. The price could be lower or higher upon release.

Screw Sony and their $$$$$NGP$$$$$. I will never buy another thing from this corrupt money grubbing company ever again. Do you see what they are doing to their customers and fans with the lawsuits? If you get the NPG you are not going to OWN it(Which Sony made very clear with the PS3(They actually said that) then feel free. Just take note that there will definaly be something in there to tell them who YOU are(Ergo the rootkits) and what you are doing so say goodbye to privacy and if they want to sue you then good luck to you because they don't have to win to take you broke and living out of a cardboard box(why would they care as obviously they don't)

if you like the game you play buy it, if you don't like it delete it. its rather simple

i don't care if the games came on Sony's ClusterF**K format blatant piracy is blatant piracy. i can understand Downloading a game to try but downloading them just because you can. its what lead to the PSP's software demise.

This PSP2 is shaping up to be quite the portable entertainment package. Id rather not have it dead before it ever gets off the ground.

I can totally understand what you are saying, if you love a game agreed buy it, and believe me this new system is salivating but because of what this company does and stands for I just can't give them my money. They are showing that money can buy you the law and it's disgusting plain and simple.

Does anyone else think the NGP will be 300-350 with a 1 or 2 year 3G contract? and $400-600 for an "unlocked" NGP.

I think that the cell phone chip (3G) will not be one of the components of the psp2 launch.

from 512 to 256mb of internal ram isn't that big of a deal. you should need no more than 16mb for system calls and 8~16 for pretty menus anyway.

128mb of vram is alot considering the screen size. that could be shaved to 64mb and gfx wouldn't take much of a hit besides first gen games will use no more than 16~32mb for video anyway. 128 vram is just leeway room for sloppy coders.
