Report: Wii 2 coming at E3 with quad-core, Blu-ray?
TechRadar is saying today that Nintendo is planning to unveil the Wii 2 at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June even though the gaming company has repeatedly denied that the console is even in development.

Just last month, the company said it was not ready to begin phasing out the Wii, despite at least five quarters of declining sales.

The Wii remains a "last generation" console, whereas gaming rivals Xbox 360 and PS3 are "current generation," with better Internet connectivity and better graphics among other features.

TR speculates that the new Wii 2 will boast a hugely improved spec sheet, including a quad-core processor, a Blu-ray drive, and built-in projector.

Nintendo quickly responded with a "no comment."

If and when Nintendo does release a new console, will they keep supplies purposely low to drive up demand like they did before?

LoL...so the Wii was a little better than the PS2, with dumb features that worked poorly (even with the addons that were not available at launch, the wiimote still can't compete with a DS3 or a 360 controller).

Now the Wii II might be a little better than the PS3 (the PS3 has 7 usable cores...but the Wii II cores might be faster, and they may have advantages elsewhere as well)...and again they give us a crummy feature that will work poorly (a good projector costs $5000...I don't think the included projector will be very good)

If this is true, it will force Microsoft to release the 720, and that will force Sony to release the PS4...AFAICT, those are the only reasons that the Wii II is of any interest at all.

I hope that's not the name of MS 3rd console name... also it would be stupid if Ms create another console and you can't play 360 games online anymore...

I bet Wii2 will have something to do with 3ds...

    Wii2 without 3d glasses

The reason its called the xbox 360 is because it can do anything MS says. In other words its well rounded, hence 360. So no it will not be called 720 because that doesn't make sense. Plus 2 on the blu ray. That will never happen.

A built in projector? What are you going to do, stick a sensor bar on the wall? Plus 3 on the Blu-Ray drive.

I'm surprised that the blu-ray drive seems to be the main sticking point for people rather than a built in video projector.

@Hulud86 That sounds about right but I read that the motivation for it being something with a 3 in the name was because they feared people would see Xbox 2 and think the meant it was weaker than a PS3 due to 2 being a lower number than 3.
