Analyst: Motorola Xoom sales are 'weak,' Honeycomb is a 'mess'
Yesterday, Verizon publicly stated that sales of the Motorola Xoom tablet are very strong, but at least one analyst disagrees.

Trip Chowdhry of Global Equities Research says today that sales are in fact, "very weak," and short battery life and "poor software quality" are killing the tablet.

Says Chowdhry (via Barrons):

Google Honeycomb is suffering from frequent application freezes and crashes and the battery life is very inconsistent – lasts sometimes for 2 hours, and sometimes for 6 hours. The battery standby life is mere 10 – 12 hours vs. 30 days on Apple iPad.

The analyst calls the Honeycomb interface "extremely complicated and confusing, and does not come naturally – you really have to work on it," citing conversations with Xoom owners.

Chowdhry concludes that Honeycomb, and Android tablets in general, may "struggle to get mass adoption – and probably be relegated to Tech Community only."

What is this guy talking about? I own a xoom and the interface is not confusing. The system is quite fast but I believe he was babbling about working his way around the system.

I own an iPad and had a chance to check Xoom. I totally disagree with that guy. Xoom has a very good interface. Just a few tablets are available in the market. I think there is space for both Apple and Motorola HWs. Anyone can choose what consider the best. Both are very good units.

This guy is crazy, my battery is excellent. I charged my battery on Friday and accidentally left my charger at work. On Sunday, I still had 22% left and that was with moderate use. I have minimum crashes. Honeycomb is awesome!

While I don't think the Honeycomb OS is perfect I don't have a clue what this analyst is talking about. My battery life lasts forever, not just on standby with everything off but with my WiFi running continuously and lots of web browsing, downloads and game play. The interface is rather simple, maybe not as elementary school friendly as iOS but anybody with 10 minutes to learn can use it fairly well. My applications very rarely crash, and usually the ones that crash are the ones not Tablet ready yet. All in all this is the same as the guy who said "The Playbook will be obsolete before it even releases." Probably paid by Apple, or an Apple fanboy.

Idk what you are talking about with the battery life of the Xoom. I havent had to charge my iPad since I bought it on launch day (yes that's 11 months without charging).

Us normal users do not have "10 minutes" to learn an interface, we just need it to work right out of the box.

This 'analyst' is obviosly trying to manipulate the market. It'd be cool if he merely gave his opinion, but he is giving out misinformation. In the two weeks I've owned my Xoom, the quickest the batt has gone out is about 8-9 hrs. And that was with the brightness above 75%. But the screen is so brilliant, there is really no need to turn the brightness above 50% indoors. In fact, somewhere around 35% does the job quite nice... so my typical batt usage is 11-12 hrs. About on par w/ my ipad.

While the interface is naturally more complicated than ios, it works MUCH better. It took about 20 min to get used to.... but if you've ever used a computer before... it just sort of makes sense. And shame on Apple for not making a more functional tablet OS first.

Trip Chowdhry is tripping and full of BS. This Article is so stupid and full of quoted nonsense. He is a 100% Troll:

Trip Chowdhry is anything but reliable. He’s a one-man operation of this so-called "Global Equities Research", and for many years now, he’s been cooking up rumours and speculation about just anything beneath the sun. One moment he’s predicting the doom of Crapple, the next he claims that open source companies are dropping like flies. Just Google him to see what kind of ridiculous lies he’s been spreading in the tech industry.

He’s a long time Apple Pimp and done enough damage sending investors into a tizzy with false speculation. Give yourself a favour and ignore him.

Moto and Google should sue this Crack-tripping guy for unfounded allegations !

Why would anyone with just a teeny tiny half a brain pay 700 for a Xoom tablet when so many others are cheaper??

What exactly does a Xoom have that other don't?

Ring in here Verizon (Xoom) fanboys.

I'd bet that 90% of Xoom owners could care less about the hardware itself and only bought because it's "only on Verizon".

THis of course is another example of Verizon's shady and deceitful practices. They say one thing when it's really another. Their arrogance won't allow them to criticize themselves EVER EVER.

I challenge one person to identify one single instance where Verizon said "Ooops, our fault"

Ok ok......I concede to those BUT.......they do indeed make every effort to not admit even when they have been blatantly busted. It is rare that Verizon admits mistakes or wrong doing.

The math mistake doesn't really apply as it's centered on one individual and an honest error.

And though the FIOS thing is isolated too......it's also a FIOS thing......and FIOS is something they're trying to market. Unlike their cell service where it's already established and arrogance already set in. Either way, it's isolated and mind you.....LOOK WHAT HE WENT THROUGH TO GET "WHAT'S DUE". No one cares about remedying a situation when you have to jump through hoops of fire to get it done.

The 50MM refund was a result of FCC contradiction. Basically Verizon did what they do as a shady, arrogant company. They backtracked and tried to cover their ass at the expense of others rather than just admitting and correcting.

The listing error was minor and shouldn't be recognized as it was even big enough to merit national news.

Try looking up (as you did so diligently about finding "Verizon apology articles) "Verizon shady practices". Can you say "plethora"?

I will say "Challenge met" though. Good to know they are "willing"

11 months? Really? Has it ever been turned on? I really hope that's sarcasm...

Idiot. Eleven months no charge, what's it like using your I pad on standby as a paperweight.go fluff steve jobs on an apple geek site. Xoom battery averages 8 to 10 hourssince I bought it and who gives a shit on standby for more than five days....unless your heading to the moon with your I pad charging every other day is about as easy as taking a piss and shouldn't be made a big deal otherwise....apple dueche

If you are thinking of purchasing a tablet, give the Xoom a good, hard look! I have owned my Xoom for about 5 months now, I use my Xoom daily. I of course compared the Xoom's features to the I pad, and there's really no comparison. Of course there are more apps available for the I pad, but give it some time and Android apps will catch up and I feel surpass I pad apps.
