COD: Black Ops now the top selling game in U.S. history?
According to new figures from the NPD Group, Call of Duty: Black Ops is now the "top-selling video game of all-time" in the U.S., surpassing Wii Play.

The game sold 13.7 million copies since its launch in November, an impressive number that easily eclipses its predecessor, Modern Warfare 2.

Activision knows it has a winner, as well, and is planning Modern Warfare 3, an online version of the game and an "action adventure" COD, all before 2013.

While Black Ops may be the best-selling game in the U.S. ever, it has a long way before it can surpass the global sales of some other notable games.

Wii Play has sold 27.38 million copies worldwide, Mario Kart Wii has sold 26.50 million copies and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is nearing 20 million.

the results must be tampered with in someway, i thought BO was the most dull non cinematic game yet...COD as been about the cinematic experience since the first.

maybe im just not feeling that COD experience.

    I'm just not surprised.

People are so simple minded that even when a game like Black Ops comes out and is merely an overlay of the previous game with different settings and levels but same everything else, they buy it anyway. My girlfriend's simpleton brother did the same thing.

Here's something to ponder, word of mouth. Some people that bought it has never purchased any versions, hence the high selling, mark. Word of mouth plays a huge role. If the only people that bought it was the same people that bought earlier ones then the selling numbers wouldn't budge very much.

The thing is that you have a high number of new faces that are buying these games so how would someone know that it is a simple overlay over the same old bs if in fact they never played a previous version.

I would not be so quick to condemn others that never played anything of the sorts. Now the ones that knew what it was about then yes, totally agree.

Blaming piracy is overblown anyway, since most people who use pirated copies wouldn't even play the game if they had to buy it to play it.

What I dislike about CoD is that many players/reviewers will trash other games for features they slobber over CoD titles for. Even worse, they'll trash something else for not being enough like CoD and then trash others for being too much like it. It seems to be most popular w/ bi-polar types. :-)

I hate what CoD is turning gaming into.

What should be released as expansion packs are instead released as full fledged $60 games that render the previous year's CoD game obsolete.

The last 4 games have been built on the same game engine!

F****ing stupid sheep keep buying into this bull s*** series.

Get a clue and boycott this trash. Geez...

$60 for a DLC is a scam, but if people want to buy it, they should be able to. Still not as dumb as buying tobacco.

I don't like film much anymore so a cinemagic game is even worse IMO....

Until lobbying is a hanging offense I choose anarchy!
Ah modern gaming its like modern film only the watering down of fiction and characters is replaced with shallow and watered down mechanics, gimmicks and shiny-er "people".

MW2 was a milestone in that area from the EMP knocking the chopper out of the sky, to the dushe bag general blowing your brains out and setting you on fire. the whole level no Russian was clearly ripped out of a movie. sometimes i forgot i was playing a game.

BO just seemed like a step backwards(maybe the fact that it was built on WaW's engine might have something to do with it.) i just didn't like it.

Black Ops is built on the same engine. the graphics arent really that good. the gameplay online is exploited and insanely tweaked so everyone can cheat the games engine. spinning quick scoping all this crap. They dont care. as long as M$ is selling xbox live subs, WHICH have just GONE UP IN PRICE!!!! they will come out with DLC that they call a GAME for the addicted masses.

Now... On to Battlefield Bad Company 2. I play it all the time on 360.the game is great and everyone downs it because its more REAL and has NO Perks. Im telling ya the game is better you have vehicles. arent those perks. Their is a high learning curve when you start the game. (unlearning of BO)

My point on it is that BFBC2 came out with Vietnam. which one DLC and it is only online. new skins and maps from the past. NO single player. yeah I didnt read the summary. but c'mon no single player!!??
