New AT&T Android device re-introduces sideloading app installs

Last year, AT&T began locking down all Android devices, blocking sideloading of apps for "security reasons."

Today, it appears that AT&T has removed that restriction, following considerable criticism.



In the newly launched Infuse 4G, users have confirmed that "Install from Unknown sources" is available in settings.

Outside from downloading pirated apps (which was likely AT&T's concern), there are a plethora of legal reasons to need to sideload applications, including the newly launched Amazon Appstore.

The Infuse 4G goes on sale next week for $200 with contract.

  So I can expect a FW update to include this feature for my Cappy? NOT! God forbid AT&T or Samsung to support any of their devices.

  Until Android bans and removes the Dog Fighting Game/App (Dog Wars), I'm not in the least interested in buying their product. This App is a "How-To" Manual on the abusive and cruel "sport" of Dog Fighting that kills and maims thousands of innocent pets every year. I want no part of it and could care less whatever little "perks" they offer as an enticement to buy their product.
