Firefox 6 Final available very soon
In its ongoing effort to release updates more frequently, Mozilla has unveiled Firefox 6 Final today, with those in the release channel getting access.

However, the public will likely have to wait a few more days to download the release via the in-browser update.

The company expects August 16th to be the official release deadline for the browser.

Furthermore, Firefox 7 Aurora is now available, as well.

A few of the new updates are updated Address Bar functionality, a redesigned Web Developer menu, an improved Firefox Sync and faster startup time.

I am actually dual booting xp and 7 with beta and alpha for both versions. I absolutely love alpha, and all of my addons are compatible with it.

I'll have to try this new version. I like Firefox and all, but I find myself using Chrome much more often. It feels so much snappier. I guess the problem mostly is with the NoScript addon with Firefox, but even without it Chrome is quicker.

thank you mozilla for killing release numbers.....i don't get why FF5 was released when FF4 was a major release FF5 should have been a minor update to FF4.

if they keep this up how long till we reach FF10 January next year?

i remember the time when it went from FF to FF2 then FF3 and finally FF4.....those felt like real major releases.

They want FF7 by end of 2011, as part of their revamped "roadmap".

I would like to know what the difference between FF & Aurora is. I mean is it FF6 or FF Aurora (as if their using code names for Beta releases?). Is Aurora an alpha test platform?

Not only is the faster (& unnecessary) release numbering system getting confusing, now the impression to change over to a (code) named release seems to be in the works.

I was just getting used to FF5 not crashing all the time...
