GameFly responds to the launch of Qwikster

GameFly responds to the launch of Qwikster
GameFly, the current market leader in video game rentals-by-mail, has responded to Netflix's recent decision to split its streaming and DVD services and add video game rentals to its new by-mail platform, Qwikster.

Says the company, via JoyStiq:

GameFly has expanded steadily over the past nine years by focusing exclusively on video gamers. We are the only retailer offering games physically and digitally for both rental and purchase.

Gamers can try before they buy, choosing from new releases and classic titles that span the last decade. GameFly has more than 8000 games for 10 console and handheld systems to choose from, and over 1500 Windows/Mac games are available for download.

Concluding their statement:

GameFly is the leading video game rental service, and we have continued to grow even as Blockbuster and Redbox increased their investment in console games.

Finally, GameFly is ready to launch their own digital distribution platform, which will give users a chance to play "unlimited PC games."

Gamefly sucks...their price for one disk at a time is higher than blockbuster with 2 disks at a time...and blockbuster will send you DVDs or blurays as well as games.

Even with Netflix's latest f*ck ups, gamefly will have a limited future going head to head with them.

I use to use Gamefly and the shipping is really fast but everytime I want to rent their games, it's scratched up and it will not read. I had it for 5 months and all but 1 game has no disc error.

xaznboitx I don't believe that you would keep the service for 5 months if you were continuing to get scratched disc. That doesn't make sense. If you don't like Gamefly then just say you don't like them but don't make stuff up. Get real!

Maybe. But if you try to get a game from Gamefly that's just been released you won't get it. I was with them for over a year, some upcoming games I would have in my queue as soon as they were available on the site and I NEVER got them until well over a month or two after release. They just always hopped to the older games lower on my list. At least BB is straight up about it and waits for the supply to meet the demand.
