Young adults send/receive an average of 110 texts per day
According to a new Pew Internet study, young adults send/receive an average of 110 texts per day, far above the norm for other age groups.

The users, Americans aged 18-24, exchange 3200 texts per month.

Overall, 73 percent of American adults with cell phones text and 31 percent even prefer to text rather than talk on the phone.

All carriers offer unlimited texting and the service has become a standard.

The average cell phone user exchanges 41.5 messages per day.

... Really? 2,277 is pretty low to be drawing conclusions on the whole country. Ya I took stats and learned about the distribution and minimum sample size, etc. But 2,277 just doesn't seem large enough. Getting data from the major carriers would be far more reliable. I wonder how many people like me didn't get polled who send/receive an average of a couple max per day within a month. That doesn't even increase that much when including my emailed forwarded to my sms gateway.

Doesnt expecting the unexpected make the unexpected expected and therefore mean youre expecting the expected which was the unexpected until you expected it?

But then average my old butt's starts to put a negative spin on the works.

It feels like 100 years ago when I did a college level statistics course, but I certainly remember that you can make the numbers say ANYTHING you want them to.

With even minor dexterity you can make the research say that the texting average causes higher intestinal gas emissions in the southern migratory Canadian geese rather than the northern migratory geese in November... if applied properly.
