Netflix looking to revive Reno 911!

It appears that movie streaming giant Netflix is looking to revive the Comedy Central comedy "Reno 911!"

Netflix's chief creative officer Ted Sarandos has had meetings with Reno 911! producers Michael Shamberg and Stacy Sher, although that is as far as the process has gone. The show was cancelled in 2009.

For now, the lead stars of the show, Thomas Lennon, Kerri Kenney-Silver and Robert Ben Garant, have not signed any deal that would lead to them returning but they absolutely could.

Additionally, Comedy Central still retains the rights to the show. Netflix would have first run rights, but eventually syndicated episodes would be available back on Comedy Central, say industry insiders.

Netflix has been in headlines recently for their bidding war with Showtime over new episodes of the extremely popular but cancelled show "Arrested Development."

It wasn't a bad show. Some parts were absolutely retarded, like just too edited by ddp up to laugh at. A lot of it tho you couldn't stop laughing...

if netflix can bag this, and maybe win the bid (if they are even bidding) for arrested development, then perhaps their niche can be reviving cancelled tv shows with cult followings.

This is ridiculous. Why should my Netflix subscription money go to making new shows? I want content delivery, not new content of shows I don't care about. Given Netflix's recent price hike, and its need for even more money to buy the rights for more content, why waste money on shows only a few people watched in the first place?

That's great but the show is available on Comedy Central.

Just like "The Chappell Show, if 911 is available on DVD, I'll just purchase it if want to watch an unedited version.

Just like Scrubs, Reno 911 has run the gamut for new content.
