LG says no to Ice Cream Sandwich update

LG says no to Ice Cream Sandwich update
LG has posted today that they will not be updating the Optimus 2X to Ice Cream Sandwich.

Via their Facebook page and in response to a question, LG wrote:

"We will not be introducing Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich updates on LG Optimus 2X P990. Keep watching this space for further updates."

The Optimus 2X is LG's flagship Android device, launched in February with Android 2.2.

LG has still not updated the device to 2.3, with the long-planned update being delayed again.

i would guess this means no official update to ICS for my G2X either.

Not all that happy with how LG has dealt with it's "Flagship" phones.

Tons of issues that took them forever to partially fix with a very delayed update. and now it seems they have just moved on to other things.

I think this will be my last LG phone

I just got the G2x(for free with 2 yr contract)
but i am very sure a custom rom of the ICS will be available and even better than stock rom.

lets hope they change their mind so they can stay face

HTC has great hardware, but their software is still rather lacking. Sense looks nice and has nice features...but it is slow and buggy. There is also the spyware problem, and the lack of open bootloaders is an issue as they have repeatedly promised to open them and have failed to deliver.

LG has quality hardware but it is outdated. The software is both outdated and buggy...but at least the phones are halfway decent with custom roms installed.

Samsung just makes nice phones...the others all look up to Samsung, or at least they should. They are not the best in every area, but they do a great job overall.

    i agree with KillerBug

apart from LG and quality (maybe they lifted there game recently idk) but i tried one of there phones 3yrs ago and it didnt last 3 months with me (most phones break after 6 months with me due to i always drop em or knock it off my side table in the morning when the phone alarm goes off as my hand stumbles around the table to find it)

motorola died like 2days before 6 months but it was my first phone and i was being as careful as i could but my pockets generally had a different idea

samsung quality is there but not as good as HTC and they are generally all round good but i generally just dont like there looks as well

htc the quality is great i havent managed to break one yet (even after throwing it in a spit of rage) the software is a bit buggy thats true but its better than replacing my phone all the time so it doesnt bother me as i actually can own them long enough to require updating :)

Not a Samsung fanboy or anything, but i must say that basically every product of theirs that i have owned has been a good purchase. Including phones, TVs, DvD players, and electronic doodads of all kinds. I personally have also really liked every HTC phone I have owned, but i have to admit my G2x is far sexier looking and with a custom rom it runs great.

I'm surprised. I recall not too long ago that you said Motorola was your brand of choice. What happened? Lol. IMO its a toe between HTC and Samsung. Until the GS II, I've never liked their design and preferred HTC but now it's hard especially when there chips are overall the most powerful. So when I upgrade next year, android will be even more mature, I won't hear rants from my apple friends about it being buggy and whatnot. So for me it'll prolly come down to the GS III, and hTC phone, or nexus 4. Maybe the next iPhone but apple would really have to change a lot for me to stay with them. I'm just bored of iOS after so long. There just seems so much you can do with an android not to mention replace the battery conveniently after a while.

Why did ythey even bother to make that statement when they still haven't dished out Ginger bread! It's like asking for negative publicity!
I like Samsung stuff too but they need to do something about their Bada line up, espacially about the lackluster third-party support.

They have exactly denied the rumours of not getting the upgrade. So all the users of the Lg Optimus 2x, including me, can expect an update from Lg. Unfortunately this update will be in 2012 and propably delayed.
