Best Buy selling 64GB PlayBook for $230, 16GB for $199

Best Buy selling 64GB PlayBook for $230, 16GB for $199
As of midnight, Best Buy is selling the high-capacity 64GB RIM BlackBerry Tablet for just $230, down from its $700 list price.

The move is seen as an effort to dump unwanted inventory into the busy holiday.

RIM's PlayBook features the standard 1GHz dual-core processor and 1GB RAM but its real differentiating factor is its Internet experience. The browser has support for Adobe Flash, Adobe AIR, and HMTL 5.

Additionally, the PlayBook has a 7-inch screen, 1024x600 resolution, dual cameras, a microHDMI port and the BlackBerry App World, which has thousands of apps.

The main reason the tablet has been universally hated is the fact that RIM botched the software launch so badly there was not even a native email client.

That is exactly why it isn't worth $200...it is a unique version of a proprietary OS so the software selection sucks, it has no 3G or 4G, and it cannot be tethered to any phone except for a handful of blackberry phones...and even then, only if you pay an additional monthly fee. It doesn't have the battery life or the bright light contrast to be a good eReader either...so the uses for it are rather limited.

Yeah it really has no major advantages over a nook tablet, besides the storage capacity. Could android be installed on it? That would be funny if people just still didn't buy it and they lowered it even more.

Hmm but I guess if all you want is a big portable internet browser, this might suffice.

Limited software? Pay to tether? They have some serious problems over at RIM. How did they even think such a limited device would sell? No wonder they're going downhill.

Blackberries still sell...so I guess they think they are like apple and need only stamp their logo on something to guarantee sales.
