ICE seizes more domains

ICE targets Korean download portals.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has seized yet more domain names, redirecting users to a notice that the domain has been seized for copyright infringement. The movie portals served a Korean audience, and so ICE has added a Korean translation to its notice.

The domains reported seized are: 007disk.com, 007disk.net, 82movie.com, 82movie.net, 82us.com, bzserv.info, itvwmg.com, ktvwmg.com ,wmgitv.com, wmgus.com, wmgus.net.

The domain seizure was authorized by a US District Court, and now all 11 domain names are in the custody of the federal government. Domain seizures target websites found to be dedicated to copyright infringement activity, and sites selling counterfeit goods.

The domains in question, while operating in Korea, are all connected to World Multimedia Group, Inc., a Seattle-based company. Some of the sites seized offered access to downloads for a small fee.

Over 350 domain names have now been seized as part of the "Operation In Our Sites" actions against online piracy hubs and knock-off sellers.

The practice of DNS blocking has come under scrutiny lately for being ineffective and setting a dangerous precedent. You can find some information on getting around such blocks here.

So since U.S private companies, with support from the government can seize foreign property, does that mean Iran's government request for seizure of anti-Iranian, lewd, non-Muslim, and Zionist websites and property can happen right? And lets not forget all those pesky Syrian bloggers, who are violating some of the most important laws in their home country.
Those will be extradited back to Syria to face justice right?

What's all the hubbub about SOPA? Sounds like they've already passed and implemented it. Yet another "bill" passed by corporations through their corrupt political puppets. Kissing babies, flashing fake smiles, glad handing, reading from teleprompters, and collecting corporate bribes are all our politicians are good for. Is there anyone left in government with principle?

This seems fine. I mean they are reducing piracy, who wouldn't want that. It's not like they have shut down sites that weren't stealing money from the creators of movies.

Now it does suck for the end-users that go, but how long before this incites global rioting? (oh wait, that's already going on over Wall-Street).

I don't know any of those sites either. ICE targets Korean portals, after SOPA and like bills get passed who do you think ICE will be focusing on?

They've practiced, the technology is in place, they're just waiting to use it at home.
