PS Vita does not allow gaming and background browsing

PS Vita does not allow gaming and background browsing
According to a Vita developer interview, the new PS Vita will not allow web browsing whilst gaming.

When you hit the PS button during gameplay, the console menu will be brought up including the option to check friends list, music and Twitter. Web browsing is not included, however.

The Vita will run on an ARM Cortex A9 quad-core processor and be powered by a quad-core PowerVR SGX543MP4+ GPU.

Featuring a 5-inch capacitive multitouch OLED screen (with 16 million colors), the device will be 7.16 by 0.73 by 3.28 inches. Furthermore, the Vita has 512MB memory and 128MB VRAM in its graphics processor.

Sony recently announced the Vita will launch in Japan on December 17th and the U.S./EU in 2012.

What a shame! No explanation for why? Then, Sony rarely does explanations.

That RAM is already looking frugal just for gaming...

This really seems like a mistake. Not so much for this particular feature, but because they will get locked into providing more memory than is necessary to games, thus blocking other features in the future.

Yes. I understand that. But PS3 came out in 2006 I think, and even back then its RAM wasn't that impressive.

That's my point exactly. Even from gaming perspective, that is looking lowish. And wouldn't it have been nice to have Walk through open in the background while playing the game (for those who need it).

sure it will come in future firmware updates if they can make games as great looking as Uncharted I think it will be plenty ram plus VRAM as well.

I just getting sick of the typical Sony garbage starting with "Yes it can!" and as it gets closer to launch, "No it can!" or "Yes it can! BUT, it's a limited access feature."

Still better that Sony learns their lesson NOW, and not advertise falsifying features on the box only to get sued later. (cough; removal of Other OS).

Surely they must have a lot of pre-orders done already if they are stripping away with what started has hardware (more RAM was announced at their first VITA announcement) and software aspects of this handheld. At the price they are asking, they may as well just hand Nintendo and Apple their $.

    Playstation
    It only does...
    What?
    (Read the script..)
I did, It only says what...
    (It only does what.)
    What does that even mean?
    (You know, it does what)
Seriously, doesn't anyone know what it does?
(Only corporate knows what, and that's what if it's what)
How does that make any sense?
    (Read the damn script)
    Okay here goes:

    Playstation
    It only does... what.
(Cut! Not enough care on what!)
    Oh now WTF?!
(That's it, that's what we looking for!)
    I quit...

I stand corrected, I was pretty sure they announced 512MB initially and had cut it down to 256MB, but looking into it further it appeared said articles were rumored and validated by Sony back in August (my bad). Even still, the rest of my point stands.

That is exactly my point...the games don't need the ram they will have given the other conditions...but they will use it if it is available...and if they use it, Sony won't be able to take that ram back for other things later.
