Apple has almost $100 billion in cash
Thanks to Apple's strong earnings this past quarter, the company's hoard of cash has reached $97.7 billion.

As the company's cash balloons, executives have finally hinted that they have "big plans" for the money, after sitting on it for years.

At the end of the last quarter, Apple had $81.6 billion in cash.

Says Apple Chief Financial Officer Peter Oppenheimer: "We're actively discussing uses of our cash balance, and have no specifics to share. In the meantime, we continue to be disciplined with cash, and are not letting it burn a hole in our pockets.

"We have always discussed, internally with the management team and with our board, our cash. We recognize that the cash is growing for all of the right reasons. And I would characterize our discussions today as actiive as what makes the most sense to do."

Although the company is actively discussing ways to use the cash, the company is in no hurry to do so.

Maybe they should invest some of that cash in economically distressed areas... Oh, I forgot modern corporations have no responsibility to the welfare of the very people who funded that enormous cash pile; there's no profit margin in that.

Maybe they could afford to lower their prices if they are making so much. That way people wouldn't have to sell their kidneys to get one of their devices.

I'll re-quote snardos & add, Just how greedy can they be? They specifically said they don't intend to share... They are indeed, intending on sitting on the cash... WTF people!?! Dollar bills haven't exactly been released as Precious Moments collectables to my knowledge (yeah, yeah, I know the, the Franklin Mint crap... NOT what I'm talking about here...) or Pokemon cards & although fat bastards everywhere do want to collect them all; just wtf are you going to eventually going to do with all of it?

Steve Jobs did indeed die, and what do you know!!! The money's still here!!!

Even the drooling rich shareholders are probably pissed that they don't have a bite of that shite pie. Not to mention just exactly what are you (CrApple) offering your extremely loyal fan base seeing as they have supposedly payed dearly for supposedly advanced technology that this 97 bill NEVER went to.

Even if half of this went to research & development I think the fan base would be much happier with their products. Sounds to me there should be an FCC investigation for a massive fraud infringement.

Personally, I wish they'd re-invest in their software teams. (ala Final Cut PRO), instead of cannibalizing apps for the "I'm a dumb red neck who got a tax rebate" people.

You have to hand it to Apple, out of all the big tech companies right now, they are the best at marketing crap made from slave labor. The good news is that they would never use their leverage to keep competitors products out of the marketplace through never ending lawsuits.

You've said this same thing in a couple of threads now. What on earth would make you think a deal like that could possibly go through, even if the two companies wanted such a thing? Are you saying if it did, it would be beneficial to consumers?

Agreed with llongtheD, your being redundant for thread count like a high-end bed sheet. Not to mention CrApple had to Buy Into Intel, not the other way around. Since Motorola got out of R&D of the RISC processor, CrApple had nowhere else to turn for an immediate fix.

So for a crap way of putting it, Intel basically owns Apple (in a real BS manner of speaking).

So listen for a 'POP' & move on...
