Amazon to launch new tablets this year
According to a report in Digitimes, Amazon will reveal their Amazon Kindle sequel and a 10-inch tablet later this year.

Past rumors had speculated that Amazon would release an 8.9-inch version of the tablet, but the new report says Amazon will release two new tablets, a 7-inch sequel and a 10-inch version.

Both models will be released in the Q3 or Q4 of this year, say the sources.

Amazon has sold about 5 million Kindle Fire to date, making it the second best selling tablet of all-time.

Additionally, the report says "while still sourcing touch panels from Wintek and TPK Holdings, Amazon is expected to outsource production of the 10-inch model to Quanta Computer and Foxconn Electronics."

bobiroc - These tablets should be ground up designs from Amazon with better specs and design. The original Fire has been compared to a beta release. This is due to its rush to market and off-the-shelf design (playbook).

I own the Kindle and like it a lot. Does everything that I personally wanted a tablet for such as web browsing, playing simple games, video streaming, etc. I realized going in that it didn't have cameras, GPS, Bluetooth and a lot of "extras" that some folks are clamoring for in a tablet. Personally I don't use that stuff and didn't need to pay the higher price tag for it either. (I have a killer smartphone for that "other" stuff anyway.)

It's a lot better to use Kindle Fire Utility to open the device to other apps; most stuff not found on the Amazon App Store can be found in other markets and sideloaded. I also ditched the default Launcher interface, though you'll still need it if you have digital subscriptions or things stored in the Amazon Cloud.

It will fit in her purse, there are lots of apps she'll love, as well as all the other tablet features. I have one and I love it. My Fire experience has been all good. Don't forget a case.

I had some Best Buy Gift Cards and reward certificates and they sent me customer loyalty award thing for 20% off any tablet $199 or higher so I broke down and bought it. She has not put it down since.

Happy anniversary! I'm sure she was thrilled. My husband teases me about mine as it is my constant companion. Tell her to enjoy.

I love my Kindle Fire. I would love to see addition of a memory card slot and GPS in the next version but other than that that I wouldn't need much else. The GPS I would like so it could use apps like Google Sky Map. Of course some may use it for navigation or something as well.

I use my Fire usually at least a couple hours a day.
