Lady Gaga made $30 million last year from Twitter
According to the WSJ, Lady Gaga made an estimated $30 million through Twitter last year, capitalizing on her huge fan base.

The artist has almost 21 million followers on the microblogging platform. The $30 million figure was roughly one-third of her overall earnings last year, meaning Twitter likely made her more money than her CD sales did.

Lady Gaga is the most popular person on Twitter, beating out Justin Beiber, Katy Perry, Rihanna and President Barack Obama among others.

"She really engages them and re-tweets stuff they say as if she was one of them," says John Bonini, content marketing manager of Impact Branding & Design.

The singer's latest album "Born This Way" has sold over 6 million units and has spawned a number of #1 hits on the charts.

Can't complain when you only need to work for 1 month and spend the rest doing nothing and still getting paid for it.

"She really engages them and re-tweets stuff they say as if she was one of them"I pray that those so foolish, with lives so empty as to believe she is "one of them" - or, even, of the 99%, manage to eschew the fabricated media world they see as real. And instead devote that wasted time, to loving and building a responsible family that is self-reliant, has faith, and holds themselves and others accountable for their words and deeds.

As if its actually her typing out the messages. I would imagine she has a small team working her account.

It shocks me how gullible people are...

So long as it 'really is her' making the money & not the grind machine. Piss & moan in whichever direction you wish, artists have been screwed for eons. Anything that gets them paid in this lifetime is a 'one-up' in my book.

Just don't let the money go to your head sweet-heart. High dollar in no means is an indicator of intelligence or common sense. Look at the military. Rank = privilege, not greater intelligence. Certainly buys a lot of bullshit though.

That's where the money came from. It has nothing to do with the actual interaction between she & her fans whatsoever. Basically a bunch of corporate leeches offer her bullshit amounts of cash in the hopes that their advertisements floating in the background will entice fans to tap on their product likeness either immediately or in the future for purchases.

That's why a lot of talent won't just sign on with a retailer, because of the ruthless blanket advertising blitzkrieg that goes on. Some would confuse these companies as being a direct reflection on their own personal convictions as apposed to just another paycheck. That & these corporations then turing around & feeling like they can then dictate the actions of these entertainers because of the money they have spent on using their likeness to sell their wares.

    It's an ugly cycle.

Not a problem. Been a victim of the corporate grind myself. Kinda know how this game is played. Not exactly to the tune of $30 mill, but played none the less...
