Capcom intentionally left content out of game, to sell later as DLC
Capcom has confirmed that they intentionally included but then locked out numerous features of the just-released Street Fighter X Tekken in an effort to later sell that content as DLC (downloadable content).

On the retail disc, the content is available but locked down, including 14 new unannounced characters and costumes, character colors, gems and quick combo presets.

To unlock all the characters will cost you $20, and Capcom will only make them available later this year after the game is released for the Vita.

Each alternate costume will cost $1 and the gems and colors will likely cost a bit less than that. Altogether, to unlock all the character and clothes and other DLC, it will cost gamers $120 for the content which already exists on the retail disc.

Additionally, Capcom advertised a multiplayer feature for the Xbox 360 but removed it right before launch, quietly. In fact, the feature, which is a mix and match of online and offline players for scramble battles and pair play battles, is still noted in the instruction manual.

Hate them all you want, it's a common industry practice that WORKS to make more money.

If you hate it that much, pirate it.

I bet someone will sue Capcom and I what's the point of having the special edition? Thought the special edition will have lots of features that the basic game doesn't have!!! The download content cost way more than the special edition!

What's next you have to pay for each level of the game as you play it, plus the $60+ retarded amount you already have to fork over for these games. If these games where not so much then fine, but they are far from cheap. These dumb-asses wonder why they lose sales and people pirate there games. Who would spend an additional $120 on extras for street fighter? I am surprised people still even play, let alone pay almost $200 if they want the content on the disc back, on such a boring repetitive game.

Last I checked you had the option to pay for it or not. Still I think its stupid to own the disc but not all the content. Seems like Capcom published CoD too.

You may own the disc, but you do not own the software or content. Microsoft does the same with their OS. It's crap, but it's common practice with more and more game and software developers.

This does not surprise me. Capcom has been doing this for years since the early days of street fighter. I can not think of how many street fighters games and revisions there are. Capcom has also recently done this with the super street fighter 4 edition and the exclusive AE (arcade edition). I find this game similar to Apples, Intel processors/motherboards and even in college textbooks how they seem to make the most minute changes and resell the product with a different name or title. This is capitalism at its finest.

Most socialists hate capitalism because they were told to - no other reason. The only lessons they have ever received about it stem from the corruptions of it.

This is one of the reason why i almost always wait for games to fall in price before buying them ;)
