Over 30 Windows 8 tablets to flood market in 2012?
Microsoft will reportedly push 32 Windows 8 tablets to the market in 2012 in an effort to steal share away from Apple.

The iPad currently has 68 percent global market share, with Android accounting for the rest.

In a plan with Intel, Microsoft hopes to bring that Apple figure down to under 50 percent by the middle of 2013. A Digitimes source says they expect all these tablets to ship before the end of the year, even with Windows 8 only being released in September or October.

Perhaps more importantly more consumers is the price, which the site believes will start at $250 for entry-level devices.

At that price point, the devices will directly compete with the Amazon Kindle Fire and Google's rumored upcoming Nexus tablet. Apple, for its part, has been rumored to be releasing a $300 iPad "Mini" which will weigh in at around 8 inches.

32 - Windows 8 based tablets to hit the market... you'd think with that kind of saturation the opening bid for your business would be a bit less. Especially for an OS that's already taking a bit of pissing & moaning from the 'peanut gallery' as it were.

Let's be serious, devices that still start at $50 cheaper are still going to ring as a better bargain despite whose OS is on it.

Except the ipud mini... I don't see that choked out bug for $100 difference being much of a challenge to anything other than your wallet.

If $250 "Entry Level Devices" means low powered ARM versions then they don't have a snowballs chance in hell.

The ONLY ones that are compelling are the Full desktop Intel versions that will have to be fairly powerful. If they overprice those then this will be the most colossal failure ever.

"But the bigger point here is that UMG has effectively admitted this takedown was never about copyright. They demanded YouTube censor Megaupload and justify that by saying they have a contract which allows it so its fine. Its painfully clear what they would do with a law like SOPA that gives them much more power"

Um if it's Intel it will be initially overpriced. Eventually it will go down in price but by then being a "tablet". More than likely it will be "obsolete".
