The China Times (translated by BGR) is reporting that Apple is working on the low-cost iPhone, citing sources within the supply chain.
Apple's smartphones retain their value extremely well and the hugely outdated iPhone 3GS from 2009 still sells for $200 or even more if it is "unlocked" to work with multiple carriers. The number is too high to compete with entry-level Android devices, and subsidized Windows Phones.
If accurate, the report states Apple will release the low-cost model at the same time it unveils the iPhone 5 in October.
Once again, just like every year, consider this rumor for now.
