Chromebooks headed to retailers

Chromebooks headed to retailers
During their I/O event, Google announced that the cloud-based Chromebooks will be headed to retailers across the U.S.

The first stop is Best Buy, where 100 stores will get access to the thin, fast notebooks.

By the end of the year, Google is looking to expand the program to "many more retailers."

Google recently launched new Chromebooks and the first desktop Chromebox, while updating the operating system.

A WiFi-only cloud-based mobile device...brilliant! I'm sure they are very fast to start without features...so was DOS.

Wow isn't best buy going out of business?

Until lobbying is a hanging offense I choose anarchy!
Ah modern gaming its like modern film only the watering down of fiction and characters is replaced with shallow and watered down mechanics, gimmicks and shiny-er "people".

I think this is just too late if you as me, this generation is starting to move away from laptop and even netbooks, tablets and cell phones are taking over.

I 'still' don't like the sounds of this "cloud" idea, no matter how you wrap this up.

That said, I have tried chrome on my old laptop, and yes..it is very fast...but what good is it if you can't do pc stuff? If I just want to do basic stuff like email and web browsing, I use my phone. When it comes to a laptop/netbook, I want gimp, OpenOffice, and audacity...installed so I don't need any connection at all.

And your comment is uncalled for, off topic, age discriminatory & rude. Not that I give a banana's sodomy revenge to a monkey's ass, but I can't help but wonder what motivates an individual to just blindly blurt out such nonsense.

And in reply to Zippy, I was under the impression that the same impression myself (that they were going out of business), but it was hearsay. I don't remember seeing anything in writing about it.
