Gartner unveils latest tablet market share figures
According to Gartner, Apple remains the clear leader in the tablet market, but Android is slowly but surely chipping away.

The figures are for global unit sales, and include projections for 2012.

iOS, all iterations, totaled 40 million units sold in 2011 with a projected 73 million units for 2012. The OS had a 66.6 percent share last year and expected to have a 61.4 percent share this year.

Android, including variations like those seen on Amazon and Barnes & Noble tablets, accounted for 17.3 million units in 2011, with a large jump to 37.9 million expected for 2012. Market share came in at 28.8 percent last year, and should rise to 31.9 percent this year.

Microsoft, which will release the Windows RT operating system in October for ARM-based devices, is expected to see 4.9 million units sold in the short period, good for 4.1 percent share in 2012.

I wonder if tablet phones are included in this...Apple doesn't have any, and Samsung sold 10 million of them, all Android.

At the moment, these guys seem to make more realistic projections & real world - by the books tallies of units sold. I like their figures much better than the egg sucking morons from the last article we heard from.

Those idiots were obviously getting kickbacks to act like carnival barkers for Apple. Kinda reminds me of all the software companies touting their software being only good for the Intel processor & sparing any code for the AMD processor. I swear it's starting to sound like a couple of Asiatic hookers having a cat fight over who's the BJ Queen.
