LG launching 4K 84-inch TV next month
LG has announced the U.S. availability of their 84-inch 4K-resolution 3D LED TV.

The LG UD 84LM9600 will sell for $20,000 and be available in early October, says the company.

"Ultra-definition television will transform the giant-screen viewing experience in the years ahead, and LG is proud to bring this new technology to market so that discerning U.S. consumers can enjoy a fully immersive home theater experience," added Jay Vandenbree, LG USA's senior vice president of home entertainment.

The massive display has a 3840 x 2160 resolution, double that of a 1080p TV on both the vertical and horizontal scales.

Additionally, the TV has Wi-Fi, Cinema 3D and LG's Smart TV tech, with access to apps and premium subscription services.

Last month, Sony announced a similar display for sale in November, but with a $25,000 price tag.

If you have the money to burn on this TV, you *already have* a car, and a nice one, at that.

Of course, this is for people who wear rolex watches and buy $100,000 non-smartphones.

The Toshiba 55ZL2 promised much, was a more reasonable size at 55", offered glasses-free 3D, and cost less ($9000) but crucially, did not render 2160p signals - it was just internally upscaling 1080p content. If this is a native 2160p display it's a step in the right direction, but they need to produce these with some sensible panels first!

    Wealthy Facts:
The wealthier you are the less you know! According to Stein, outside of financial knowledge wealthy people are very ignorant.

The wealthy are dumb! According to Heinz, wealthy children score consistently lower results on IQ tests, 'cuz most likely their children are addicted to drugs & alcohol.

The average billionaire spends 3 hours a day browsing luxury catalogs for more crap they don't need.

    IN SUM:
Heavier consumers are people who exhibit more racist tendencies.

20k for a slightly used Louts or Porche? huh?

Watching blu ray's on this would be like watching a dvd through a progressive scan tv on your 1080P tv. Remember those days? The picture looked like garbage for quite some time for those of us that bought 1080p sets when they first came out. Took several years for the upscaling chips to catch on.

I still have that tv actually. It's a sony 40" KDLV2500. Back in 2006. Almost pulled the trigger on an LED but I just can't get past the uneven clouding and ghosting.
