Apple unveils iPad mini, new generation of iPad
Apple refreshes iPad.

Apple showed off two new iPads today. First the company introduced the new fourth generation iPad, which is powered by a new A6X chip, promising double the processing and graphics performance over the third generation iPad. It features a 9.7-inch Retina Display, and adds a FaceTime HD camera. Apple also promises twice the performance from Wi-Fi with the fourth generation iPad, along with broader international support for LTE.

The fourth generation iPad also features the new lightning connector, which can be utilized for TV out via a "Lightning to HDMI" or "Lightning to VGA" cable, and other cables adapters also support cameras and SD cards.

The real star of the show however - and the device we were waiting to cover - is the iPad mini. It is 7.2 mm thin and weighs 0.68lbs, 23 percent thinner and 53 percent lighter than the third generation iPad, featuring a 7.9-inch multi-touch display. It features FaceTime HD and iSight cameras. It's battery life matches that of its bigger brother, at 10 hours.

The iPad mini is powered with an A5 chip. During the presentation, Apple put the iPad mini up versus the competition, the Nexus 7, and showed that the iPad mini has 35 percent more screen space and 67 percent more usable viewing area when browsing the web.

iPad mini features dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi support for speeds up to 150 Mbps, which is twice the Wi-Fi performance compared to previous iPad models. iPad mini is available in Wi-Fi + Cellular models which are world-ready with built-in support for ultrafast wireless standards, including LTEš and DC-HSDPA.

iPad 4 was totally unexpected but it looks good.

Disappointed in the iPad mini. Mainly due to the price. Was hoping Apple would price it at least around $250 to try and slow down the Kindle and Nexus but at $329 it's just a smaller iPad 2. Might as well get the iPad 2 for $399.

Obviously the iPad mini is too expensive - but people will buy it anyway.

And TROLOLOL if you bought an iPad 3 a few only months ago.

WTF kind of spec is that? I can reduce my font size and do the same freaking thing.
    What exactly is "screen space"?

    What is the resolution?

Oh, Im sorry... Did the middle of my sentence interrupt the beginning of yours?

The resolution really doesn't matter to most users...sure, you can have smaller fonts, but if the user can't see them, then they might as well just be blurred by lack of resolution.

So, Apple has a smaller default font size...while Google deciced to default to a larger font so that people who couldn't read small fonts would be able to use the device and not need someone with better eyes to change the setting for them...is that really something to brag about?

How about this...I can block advertising on my Android, drastically increasing the content on the display while also decreasing data use. Now that's a feature that makes web navigation more enjoyable and user-friendly! And speaking of navigation...my Android has WORKING NAVIGATION too!

So, basically the same as a Nexus 7

AAAAND.... the reason why I will probably never buy another apple product rears its ugly head. Just as I was getting sucked in by the base specs I was reminded...

"for a suggested retail price of $329 (US) for the 16GB model, $429 (US) for the 32GB model and $529 (US) for the 64GB model.".

Which is straight up pure bullshit. I can't believe that Apple STILL has the audacity to charge an $100 extra per incremental memory increase. WTF!?
I Am attracted to their build quality but dude this is just greed. I am all for capitalism and free enterprise but this is just ridiculous. why would I even think about buying this corporate welfare crap. Sorry fuckos but you'll never see my money.

Here here! I totally agree with you! Can't stand Apple and their greed. I just can't believe that there are people out there stupid enough to buy an ipad, just to 'fit in the crowd' or to be the centre of attention. A shame, a great big shame to society as a whole. F U Apple!

Kind of reminds me of the Sony memory stick price model. Look how great that has turned out for them. Maybe someday some of them will wake up.
