Trent Reznor to start streaming music service with Beats Audio
Trent Reznor, lead singer for Nine Inch Nails, has announced a new partnership with Beats Audio.

The project will be a music streaming service set for launch early next year.

Codenamed "Daisy," the service will rival Spotify but add "expert curation" that Reznor says is "like having your own guy when you go into the record store, who knows what you like but can also point you down some paths you wouldn't necessarily have encountered."

Additionally, Daisy "uses mathematics to offer suggestions to the listener... [but also] would present choices based partly on suggestions made by connoisseurs, making it a platform in which the machine and the human would collide more intimately."

Beats, known for its headphone line and its recent partnership with HTC for Beats tech in smartphones also purchased streaming service MOG in 2011, but it is unclear if the two projects will intertwine in any way.

Good, the more competition the better. Unless they're getting an unfair advantage with licensing agreements from companies that would like to destroy Spotify and other such services and thereby establish a new monopoly to raise prices, in which case I say "Fuck you".

I'll stick my foot up your ass.

There is no need to start another streaming music service. Everything he claims is missing in the usual suspects are already available via YouTube and sites like www.fuhshnizzle.com You can find millions and millions of songs (and videos). fuhshnizzle already has something called shnizztv that serves recommended and related songs to whatever you are listening to and lets you have direct input in what you get to hear.

Also, he will still run into the whole royalty issue that is killing Pandora and Spotify. YouTube already cut a great deal with the music industry and sites utilizing its API get the benefit - artists get paid, copyright infringers can get reported and the sites have a fighting chance to provide great product without need to push upsells.

Someone needs to beat Reznor to death with Marylyn Mansons' lifeless body. Ok maybe that's a bit harsh, my bad.
    Just not a big fan.
