Microsoft apologizes for Cloud Saved Games outage, offers consolation
Microsoft announced this morning that any user affected by the Cloud Saved Games outage will receive a free month extension to their Xbox Live Gold subscription.

Late last week, the cloud feature stopped working for most subscribers, leading to a 48-hour outage.

Company engineers had "been working around the clock to get the issues resolved," said the company at the time.

Microsoft's Xbox Live general manager Alex Garden noted the feature returned to all users today, with the company still investigating the underlying cause: "We can assure you we'll also be doing a thorough post mortem to help prevent this from happening again."
