A look at Samsung's new flexible OLED phone prototype

A look at Samsung's new flexible OLED phone prototype
Yesterday, Samsung showed off its impressive new flexible OLED phone prototype at CES to much attention.

The displays can be rolled up into a circle without cracking or losing any details.

Although Samsung's prototype could not be fully rolled, the phone had a 5-inch, 16:9 resolution screen that curved around the edge of the phone without any loss of image.

Of course, there is no real practical reason for a curved phone design at this time, but the tech is still extremely impressive and shows that Samsung remains on the forefront of mobile innovation.

Well so much for finding a case that wont block part of the screen. And screen protectors would be a bitch to keep on.... Other than looking pretty I hope this phone is just a demo.

The tech demo yesterday however showed how the screen now uses a flexible polymer and not glass, so shattering or breaking it would be much harder, or "unbreakable" as samsung put it.

this tech may be really useful if you keep the phone inside, say, a backpack, and the damage would be prevented if pressure (accidental) would tend to break the phone, impressive.

Yeah. But watch is still useful when you are working or in hurry..
a quick glance to wrist compared to pulling it out of your pocket and unlocking it.

Given the rectangle with rounded corners farce this will be more for patent protection than anything else.
