Disney and News Corp. appear to have different views on what to focus on. Disney would like to push the ad-based free service while News Corp., unsurprisingly, would like to focus on the $8 per month Hulu Plus premium package that include back catalogs of nearly all shows.
Combined, the company's own two-thirds of Hulu, with NBCU owning the rest. However, NBCU has no decision-making rights due to regulations put in place after Comcast purchased the content company.
Hulu brought in $700 million in revenue in 2012.
