VIDEOS: Microsoft takes on Google Docs
Microsoft has uploaded a couple of videos that poke fun at Google Docs, enlisting Rob Schneider and some other familiar faces.

In the first video, we are warned not to "gamble with Google Docs," and in the second video we're shown how Google Docs is not a productivity team player on the basketball court.

We're not entirely sure they were worth spending money on, but worth a look anyway.

This is lame. I looked down at apple for all those Justin long derogatory commercials and now Ill do the same to Microsoft. They can shove it. What a rip for office anyway. I use google docs every day. Edit: then again google did send out an April fools joke poking fun at windows blue, sooooo

M$ lost me when they decided to completely revamp Office's UI in Office '07. Ugh. Ribbon menus = WTF?! They took a capability Office already had (fully customizable, dockable menus) and made it so you HAD to use them, incidentally moving nearly every function about in each program in the suite. Thank Deity for UBit Menu; it essentially makes Office usable again, in my opinion (and it's legally free for private use).

Same as with AutoCAD and WIndows 8, developers are going to have to remember that *forcing* your new workspace/flow on users that already have an efficient workflow with a current UI is counterproductive, at best.

On the second ad, they need to put the guy wearing the Office shirt in the Google Docs shirt, and then put Steve Ballmer in the Office shirt. Then all will be right.

seriously, ribbon menu is definitely a turn-off. M$ always tends to do things that are neither required nor desirable, they don't know, "don't fix if it ain't broke". no wonder why they are losing business to the fruit company. thanks Bozobub that you shared something like UBit with this community that was unknown to many of us. i am gonna install it, RIGHT TODAY!!! the best thing about UBit that i see is that they even let you use ribbons if you like or get accustomed to it by any chance.

funny commericals..it is true too.. google docs is not fully compatible and not a favorable solution unless you are not worried about sharing with other or how it looks when it gets there. There is a place for google docs though, just like open office. in shops that cant afford Microsoft office and for people that cant afford Microsoft office.

At the same time if Microsoft lowered the price of office by half including 365 they would probably kill off all other products and get sued. Office is by far the best product out and there is nothing even close, not even google docs.

...or people who want to avoid unstable proprietary formats that break little things with each new suite version.
...or people who don't want to blow money on something when there's a free alternative (that's arguably superior).

If MS were serious about this then why oh why pick Rob "durp dee dur" Schneider?

Its a lot easier being righteous than right.
