Download Windows 8.1 Preview ISOs now
Microsoft has made installation ISOs for the Windows 8.1 Preview available to download.

At the BUILD conference, Microsoft showed off some of the changes in Windows 8.1, responding to consumer feedback about the Windows 8 operating system launched last year.

Now you can download an ISO file and install it yourself.

Windows 8.1 Preview (English) 32-bit: WindowsBlue-ClientwithApps-32bit-English-X1899604.iso

If you are running Windows 8, simply double-click on the ISO file and run Setup.exe. If you are running an older version of Windows, you will need to either burn it to a DVD or create a bootable USB installation.

Important: Windows 8.1 Preview isn't currently supported on some tablets and PCs with newer 32-bit Atom processors.

If you need ISOs in languages other than English, look here.

Can we get a hash check on these ISO's? There seem to be a lot of people having issues installing because of bad downloads/burns.

I read about the changes and won't be updating. It adds the start button back but all it does is bring up the metro ui crap transparently over the desktop. Big deal. I will stick with the version i have + classic shell to bring back the start menu I know and love instead of those tiles and such better suited for tablet or touch screen devices (which I don't have).

    Added them. Sorry about that.

I'd guess people are probably better off using a download manager like JDownloader or something to grab the ISOs, would probably be considerably quicker than a browser at that point.

Thanks, downloaded twice. Currently trying to install the second one now. Unfortunately I checked both files with fciv and neither matched the checksums listed... little worried I might be needing a 3rd download.

Where is the start menu, so what if there is a start button, does very little in the entire scheme of things. At work I must deal with Windows 8 all the time and can't avoid it and must say it really is annoying at best to use.

Finally got it installed and allow me to vent. I tried the preview of 8 before, and this fixes nothing.

Start menu is not there, not even a hint of how to activate it aside from reading forum posts and knowing from use. I thought the readdition would be a more noted thing..... oh well guess they still don't get why people despise 8.
