Samsung delays their first Tizen OS smartphone

Samsung delays their first Tizen OS smartphone
According to multiple sources, Samsung has delayed their upcoming Tizen OS-based smartphone.

The phone had been expected for this quarter but appears to be delayed now until the Q4.

Allegedly, there are "development issues for the app store."

Tizen is the open-source Linux-based operating system backed by Intel, and Samsung's effort to not have all their eggs in the Android basket.

Quote:Tizen is the open-source Linux-based operating system backed by Intel, and Samsung's effort to not have all their eggs in the Android basket. It still baffles me why. There must be a lot of profit in the mini app biz to have them all chasing it. There's heaps now. Meanwhile Linus Torvalds still lives in a shack. :)

Its a lot easier being righteous than right.

Another member to join the party, a little late.
Not good news for Microsoft or Research in Motion slicing up 5% of the market three ways.

I think Intel erred majorly bu choosing Linux as the base in stead of Free / Open BSD. With the latter they would most certainly have preempted all kinds of possible DRM / copyright infringement law suits.

Those issues with Linux were cleared up when Linux wrote GIT.

Linux is supplanting even Unix now.

Its a lot easier being righteous than right.
