Sony in development of 'Gran Turismo' game-based movie
According to multiple sources, Sony is in development of a film adaptation of the popular racing series 'Gran Turismo.'

Mike de Luca and Dana Brunetti, producers of The Social Network and Fifty Shades of Grey, have already signed on to the project.

The Playstation-exclusive game has sold over 70 million units to date, making it one of the most popular game series of all-time.

Dreamworks announced earlier this year that they were developing a Need for Speed movie, based off the game series, as well.

Great, just what we all need; another useless video game based movie.

Oh no! Well it could be made right of course. But make it Hollywood and it turns to shit.

It would be rather difficult to make a decent movie out of gran turismo...there is no plot to the game whatsoever. The only cutscenes are of cars looking sharp and flying by the camera...and other than that all you have is a generally progression from someone with $10K, unlimited free driving school, and no license to someone who has raced every race on earth, winning one-of-a-kind (or zero-of-a-kind) cars for some of the races (and even some of the driving school tests). It would make Tokyo Drift look like a tour de force.
