Sony to sell 12GB flash PS3 in North America
Sony seems to be preparing to begin selling a 12GB flash-based PS3 console in North America from the end of this week.

Canadian retailer Future Shop had the 12GB PS3 listed today before it was promptly taken down, though Engagdet did manage to get a screenshot of the listing before it was removed, and then another picture allegedly from a KMart stockroom in the U.S. of the retail packaging of the console.

Sony revealed earlier this year that it was going to be releasing a 12GB flash-based PS3 in parts of Europe and Hong Kong, but denied that it would ship in North America.

The Future Shop listing had the 12GB model "in stock" at $199.99.

Pointless... Seriously at this late in the game Sony, it's a waist of hardware shipments.

I'd be interested at the 200 price point. I'd be happy to catch up on some Sony exclusives since they won't be supported on PS4..... plus an extra blu ray player

But does this still have the ability to swap in a different HDD? Because face it, if i had my choice of buying an old one at gamestop for $200...or buying a new one and swapping in a bigger HDD I'd go for new.

I put a 1tb HDD in mine and took out the 500gb that it came with. So I wouldn't even need to buy a new HDD. I'd pullout that 12gb pos and slap in the 500 i have laying around and have a better machine than anything you can get used at gamestop.

In short Yes you can BUT if you take a HDD from a PS3 to put into another PS3 it will not just "work" it will need to be formatted.
