VIDEO: iPhone 5S has 'blue screen of death' bug

Users of Apple's iPhone 5S smartphone are reporting crashes that are accompanied by a blue screen on the device.

Most people can remember the good old Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) that happened now and then with Windows. In newer versions of Windows it is not blue, but essentially the same thing.

Now it appears Apple has gotten its own blue screen of death with the new iPhone 5S, only it contains no information at all on the crash, it just pre-empts a reboot.

The problem seems to occur when using Apple's iWork apps, particularly when multitasking. One apparent workaround, according to The Verge, is to disable iCloud syncing for Apple's Pages, Keynote, and Numbers apps. The problem persists even on iOS 7.0.2 which was released to fix lockscreen bugs.

I don't know much about this subject but from what I understand from the previous comments; the thing can be rebooted and will work again; unlike when sometimes the BSoD occurs on a Windows computer no matter how many times you reboot, the BSoD returns.

Most people don't understand what the BSOD is. BSOD is attributed to hard memory errors. This can be caused by bad hardware or shoddy programming or both. Sucks to be the many millions of cows who lined up for this. Glad I went with a BB Z10; no issues there.

I wasn't defending iPhones - I certainly don't own one and unless I win one in a competition I never will. I merely observed that a reboot probably clears it. I've had issues with Windows reporting a problem with a HDD when I attempted a system install; it wasn't the HDD in fact it was the CD Rom drive that was faulty.

I agree that this BSoD situation should never happen and if it's a regular occurrence Apple need to sort it out.
