80 percent of smartphones still have no malware protection

According to new a Juniper Research whitepaper, mobile device users continue to leave their phones and tablets unprotected from malware.

In fact, as much as 80 percent of smartphones remain unprotected, says the report.



This year, 325 million phones will have mobile malware protection installed, but Juniper believes that number will jump to 1.3 billion by 2018.

Android has become a major target for malware makers, due to its more open nature when compared to iOS and Windows Phone. Fortunately for the criminals, Android is the most popular operating system in the world, by a long shot.

  Just another example of a product from a LARGE company that doesn't incorporate 'best practices' and could care less about infections...........probably because there is more money in treating an infected device rather than implementing measures that are 99% effective at STOPPING MALWARE.

  This sort of stuff remains mostly FUD while Android remains impregnable to any security risks not involving an active user error. Doesn't really matter how much malware there is if none of it can get on the phone without consent and active participation from the phone's user.
